Cat Stuck In a Tree

That about sums it up. It's a kitten that's been stuck in the tree for about two days now. It's about 25 feet up and it goes straight up. We don't have a ladder tall enough and we've tried taping a net to a pole and putting it up there but that cat won't go near it. And yes, we've tried the fire department, but they don't help with these situations anymore for liability reasons. We're kind of out of ideas so I was hoping maybe some of you would have some suggestions. It's supposed to freeze tonight and it's been pretty cold and I'd hate for the cat to try and make it through the night. Thanks for any help.

Date: 2/10/2005 5:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 36850    Rhiannon, we tried calling the Humane Society, but I gues they're gone for the night. Thanks author only for the suggestions, but the fire dept doesn't do that anymore and the tree is too high to climb without any type of equipment. moonshine3

Date: 2/10/2005 5:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 13138    Do you know any painters or roofers or someone who may have one of those tall extenable ladders? Or maybe a tree cutting service? They have those lifts on their trucks. Try the phonebook, maybe one of those people will be kind and help the poor kitty. Good luck. Take care,
Date: 2/10/2005 6:04:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 36850    thanks for the idea Grace, but I don't think most of the businesses are open this late.
Date: 2/10/2005 6:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 51393    putsometype of cat food that you can stick on ,that you were using .Lure the cat closer to the pole.See if you can find something that would stick it like velcro of some sort. The fur of the cat should cling to a velcro.Lure it first and then cling it on see if that works.
Date: 2/10/2005 6:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 51393    shape*
Date: 2/10/2005 6:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 51393    Another idea would be to inter wined a wire on a pole like a shave of U <--- and then bring it up and try to pull the cat off from the tree, just becareful.
Date: 2/10/2005 6:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 51393    The cats hair can be shaved as well so you can always use an emergency glue so the cat can stick on the after you lure it in.
Date: 2/10/2005 6:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 51393    or fur*
Date: 2/10/2005 7:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 43015    aww poor thing! maybe you could build your own ladder..get a few pieces of thick wood and some nails and nail the wood in the tree and then climb up it..

Date: 2/10/2005 9:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 58308    uh-oh! Maybe if it gets cold enough, it'll come down on it's own. Poor little kitty!!
Date: 2/11/2005 9:38:00 AM  From Authorid: 3648    My cat did this during the summer...he was about 30 feet up and scared the daylights out of me...like you we tried many ways of getting him down....Did the food thing, ladder, etc...he would walk a foot out and cry his little head off...We had to leave him up there over night...it broke my heart..but the only way we got him down was for my oldest son to go up the tree with a backpack...I don't recommend that of course..but it was the only answer we had...I wish I could help you....I would think once the cat becomes hungry enough it would find a way down though...
