Suicides... Preventable? ~*~Chella

Recently we've had two people in our town who has commited suicide... When I was in school there was a boy who had killed himself.. and everybody says .... Just if I had known I could have helped him/her!

Do you really believe this? Do you think it is true if you have known you could have helped these people? I don't know. I knew a really depressed person and they would not listen to anything I said. I tried to help her, and tell her everything was going to be okay, but she just didn't care. I don't know if anything did happen to her; I had to move.. but I think this... If someone's mind is set to do something it is really hard to change their mind... What do you think on this subject... Maybe in some situations I think it's possible. Lets say if someone is feeling lonely and don't have any friends.. but in other situations I don't know if it is possible. I try to help everyone I know is depressed and I hope it helps, but some people just don't want to hear it. Anybody been in this situation :)

Opinions Please..

*Chella*

Date: 2/10/2005 9:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 17081    I had one relative, two of my wives relatives, two friends commit suicide. I never seen it coming with any of them. They seemed to be happy as can be. One friend killed himself because he was wanted by the law. One friend killed himself because his wife didn't want him. My wife's one relative killed himself because he was in pain from an earlier attempt at suicide. I think her other relative was crazy and jumped off a cliff. I'm not sure why my relative killed himself. It was also probably over a girl. I have a friend who is in the hospital right now because of a breakup in marriage and he can't accept it. He has been in the hospital over a week. I'm worried that he might try it.
Date: 2/10/2005 12:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 7574    It's preventable...There's been about three teen suicides here in the past 6 months. No one talks about it, there's not even anything in the paper about it. We learn about drugs, alcohol and sex at school but not about suicide. People here try to hide it and act like it never happened, but you can't fix a problem when you don't deal with it.
Date: 2/10/2005 4:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    I do know of a friends sister, aged in her middle 40's, and she had about 3 previous attempts at suicide, a seemingly happy but also troubled person but on talking with her you wouldnt know really how her emotions were, well her last attempt she was successful, and at her funeral, it was said that she was a free spirit....her early life was a very troubled one, and inwardly she suffered ...no, nothing was going to stop her from doing that last act, in a lot of cases I think it is preventable but in this case it was definately going to happen sooner or later...so sad....hugs
