Did you watch it form the very beginning? Because usually they have warnings such as "Viewer Discretion is Advised" or they have the ratings up in the corner of the screen that go something like "Y-14, LSV" or something to that effect the letters indicating vioelence, language, or sexuality, etc. I'm not sure if they had it on your TV show, but they probably should've. |

nah, they just treat it like the news. they think if there's no coarse language, no nudity, and no violence....then it's okay |

But that kind of thing is on the nightly news. If it offends you, then switch channels or turn off the tv. I like the discovery channels because of finding out what's going on in the world. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though. |

The difference is that this is a documentary, and real life can often be tagged as less than a fictional program would be simply because it is real happenings, even if re-enactments of them |

But see, course language and violence offend many people. I cringe when I see a slasher movie. |

coarse language offends people even if they use it themselves, as does violence and nudity. Strange really. Look at the reaction to Janet Jackson a year ago. Just because part of a breast was seen on prime time TV! We get a lot of programs here in the UK from over in the US and in ther US versions everything is blanked out, in the UK versions they dont blank it, and in the french version of TV I have seen a full blown sex scene, unedited at about 8PM on a national broadcaster! |

Ad, I watched a cable show (HBO) once that showed some of the shows you are talking about. I couldn't believe it but then again, we view nudity as worse than violence. Personally, I like to think I'm a modest person and somethings are best behind closed doors. But back to the documentaries, showing surgerys, babies being born, how forsenics help solve crimes, these discovery and learning channels teach and hopefully aren't viewed with enjoyment on anothers tragedy. |

I agree with Penny and Ad. Change the channel, and for one, it is a documentaries...second, it's on the discovery channel....Just even knowing the channel you should be able to tell that there might be something graphic. I actually find the viewer discretion reminders quite annoying....Can't take it, change the channel, that's my opinion O.o... |

Several years back, there was a plane that lost it's hydraulics that was forced to make an emergency landing, I believe in N. Dakota. There was actual video footage of the plane coming in, then suddenly cartwheeling down the runway in flames. When emergency teams got to the scene, there was wreckage everywhere, and video footage did show some bodies. Suddenly, the footage showed survivors walking out of the cornfields around the airport, some burned, others injured. Persinally, I do not feel that incident and footage needs any rating. It is real life. I have seen far worse, including fire victims, drowning victims, and crash victims. I don't recall anyone standing around and holding up signs telling me that what I was about to see may be too intense to view. |

in your comment above, "they just treat it like the news", i don't know what news program you watch, but the ones I watch (a lot of different ones..i like my news), they always say something to the effect, "and a warning: some of these images may not be suitable for some viewers", so..just outta curiousity, what news program do you watch that doesn't warn people about that kinda stuff? |
