'Star Trek: Enterprise' Cancelled By UPN Network By Associated Press

03 February 2005 11:05 am ET

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- After four years, the mission is over for "Star Trek: Enterprise."

The prequel to the original ``Star Trek'' science fiction series will air its final episode in the United States on May 13, UPN and Paramount Network Television announced Wednesday.

The series will get a send-off that "salutes its contributions to the network and satisfies its loyal viewers," said UPN Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff. She didn't disclose details.

"Star Trek: Enterprise" debuted in September 2001. Scott Bakula stars as Capt. Jonathan Archer, along with John Billingsley, Jolene Blalock, Dominic Keating, Anthony Montgomery, Linda Park and Connor Trinneer.

The franchise included "Star Trek", "Star Trek: The Next Generation", "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", "Star Trek: Voyager" and "Star Trek: Enterprise."

"Star Trek" movies also have been released.

While bidding goodbye to "Star Trek: Enterprise," the studio hinted at more "Star Trek" to come.

"We all look forward to a new chapter of this enduring franchise in the future," said Paramount Network Television President David Stapf.

Date: 2/5/2005 8:50:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62851    Addition: Sure it wasn't as good as some of the others in the franchise, but it was far better than some of the things I have stumbled into on television these days. Just a side note, the original series in the sixties with Kirk and Spock was also cancelled because of low ratings.
If anyone is interested, there is a letter writing campaign to get them to change their mind at http://www.saveenterprise.com . If that doesn't work I wrote the SciFi channel also because sometimes they pick up shows like that when they are cancelled and revamp them.
Thanks for your attention!

Date: 2/5/2005 10:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 46530    They should never have gone backwards. The ship looked better than the original, all the kit they had looked better and the whole thing was unbelievable timeline wise.

Date: 2/5/2005 5:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 52489    Thank God! That show was terrible! For the last ten years Star Trek has been controlled by the politically correct, and each incarnation of the franchise is a new low!
