anyone here lives in a basement?

I rent in a basement, and there are a lot of crap I have to deal with. there's this really noisy and annoying kid that lives upstairs and he always wake up like 6:30 in the morning everyday and how is that annoying you may ask? because that guy is LOUD. He doesn't talk when he talk, he screams everything out. that guy has no indoor voice, and it always wakes me up. and when he moves, he doesn't walk...he runs (big surprise..) and there's these huge "thump thump thump TUMP!" all the time. and whenever anyone upstairs use water, the water flows through my walls and makes these extremely annoying flushing sounds. but the most annoying part of the water thing is when they use the toilet, when it flushes...oh my god. it's like a freaking tsunami in the walls and for some reason they always go to the bathroom. So in my room I'm like "going to the bathroom AGAIN!?? you just went like ten minutes ago." there's only three people living upstairs, I swear...they're just flushing the toilet to annoy me. and whenever after the tsunami in the wall thing, there's these tap tap tap tap tap sounds that are just annoying, it's like someone tapping on the walls. and to make it even more annoying, the tapping goes from 30 taps/minute to 1 tap/minute, so that just when you think the tapping is finally going to stop, it taps one more and makes you seethe some more. man that kid is annoying. Oh..one more thing about the basement. the walls are excessively fragile, the other day I was jumping into my bed and accidently hit my head on the wall...and I made a hole in it. great, now I have to repair it. the whole house is weak, I just used my finger and pushed the wall a little bit and the whole house seem to be shaking.

Date: 2/1/2005 9:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 45397    I lived in a basement about 4 yrs ago (first place I had to call my own after I left my ex husband) it was small, but it was my home. I was working at the time and I'd have a couple dishes in the sink and when I'd get home from work they would be done (and I lived alone) But there was a couple time when the people upstairs did laundry and it would over flow (had to be watched closely) and my bedroom got flooded on more than one occasion along with the rest of my place. Eventually black mold started growing on the walls and under the carpeting and yes plywood on the floor. I did let my landlord know and he did nothing about it. I kept getting sick from it. I moved out shortly after, I was there about a year. (the mold and flooding happened at the end)
Date: 2/1/2005 9:35:00 AM  From Authorid: 62926    I lived in a basement once. I got so used to the water sounds and the noise sounds. At Christmas Time We stayed in my parents basement for 2 weeks, and They are so loud But I got used to sound over time it didn't even bother me.
Date: 2/1/2005 9:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 54084    I lived in my sister's basement for a while. It was awful. I know what you're talking about with the water sounds. Plus my nephews were really loud when I was trying to sleep. My bedtime was before theirs. Go figure. I had to get up at five am, they didn't. I can definately feel for you. Good luck!
Date: 2/1/2005 9:49:00 AM  From Authorid: 23075    I don't live in a basement. I do however live ina condo...and have a girl that lives above me....she drives me nuts sometimes...but I'm used to thenoise now...It's when I dont hear anything I get a little worried.
Date: 2/1/2005 11:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 10344    Wow...that is crazy....sounds like you live in my old basement apartment. Do they let their alarm clock go off forever too? lol
Date: 2/1/2005 11:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 45397    Oh when I first moved into the basement apartment I was on welfare getting $520 a month, the rent was $450 inclusive and I made arrangements to pay extra for the lastmonths rent so my total rent at the time was $500 and that left me with $20 to last the month. I was there for a couple months I believe like that before I got working.
Date: 2/1/2005 12:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 62901    I would move out if it was like that. That would definitely annoy me. But I don't know anything about basements. Here in New Orleans, we're under sea level, so it's all swamp and a lot of different areas are sinking.
Date: 2/1/2005 12:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 62901    $450-$500 for a basement????? I pay $450 for a one bedroom apartment on the second floor (no one above me) and it includes water! That's ridiculous!
Date: 2/1/2005 8:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 7574    Well, I live in a house with my parents, but I'm the only one with my room in the basement. It's pretty nice, because I'm one the other side from the bathroom and the pipes, but I always hear people walking above me and I always hear people talking through the vents when I'm trying to sleep..It's annoying.
Date: 2/1/2005 11:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 53360    why dont you move it if bothers you that bad?
Date: 2/2/2005 2:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 24319    My mother and I lived in my Aunt and Uncle's basement for a year, about 3 years ago. It wasn't too bad since they had it all refurnished and split the basement into 3 rooms. My mother and I stayed in the "gathering" room, it was just like a living room and we slept on pull-out couches. Thankfully, the room we stayed in didn't make noise. The only problem we had was during that summer, when those Pincher bugs kept getting in from one of the windows, that I am assuming wasn't put it right and there was enough room for them to get in.
Date: 2/2/2005 3:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 62675    Not a basement but a garage converted to a house! I would rather be in a basement!
