Hearing your cat or dog cough can make any pet owner a concerned "parent" - with good casue. Coughing can signal a viral infection, an allergy, a collapsed trachea, or numerous other problems, including serious ones such as a lung tumor. Also, repeated coughing can be hard on an animal's lungs and heart. Take your pet to the vet to have her rull out any serious cause behind the hacking. If your pet's coughs are more frequent than once an hour, your vet may sugest a product such as Robitussin Maximum Strength Cough Syrup, which contains cough suppressing dextromethorphan. A safe dose is 1 teaspoon per 30 pounds of body weight, taken every 6 to 8 hours.
BUT BE SURE TO SEE YOUR VET |

sounds like kennel cough... you should take him to the vet to recieve a full checkup, and possibly antibiotics. In the meantime, keep him warm, dry, and use a humidifier where he sleeps... (no menthol) |
