Date: 1/13/2005 6:15:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232 The only catch with that is it's in the morning when I leave and that's after just waking up. That's good advice. A doggy treadmill would be funny! |

Date: 1/13/2005 6:37:00 PM From Authorid: 53052 my mo had one of those barking collars... she tried everyting and it never worked until she tried the collar... it was a mild shock and it worked... about a half dozen barks.. and she no longer barks at strangers(and this is the dog that used to bark against the window and scare the paper boy/girl constantly!) |
Date: 1/13/2005 6:37:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232 there are a lot of tips on there, but I think that I'm too sweet to him or something, because he does a lot of that stuff like sleep with me and stuff and he knows the routine too. he loves to look out the window so once I raise the blinds and tilt the curtain, he gets anxious, he does know I'm about to go. |

Date: 1/13/2005 6:39:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232 My boyfriend is worried about that, that he wouldn't want to bark at people who seem like they are bad or something, but maybe he'll know that this kind of barking is not the right kind of barking. After I get my loan check I was going to get him classes to learn things and on the site that Crooked recommended it said that training was good too. |
Date: 1/13/2005 6:40:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232 punkrockprincess at my other apartment I used to leave Animal Planet on for him, but Mike only has computers in his room, maybe music or something |
Date: 1/13/2005 6:44:00 PM From Authorid: 42792 oh how I wish that I could shock all of the people that I think talk too much. |
Date: 1/13/2005 6:48:00 PM From Authorid: 16845 Ooooooh no don't do the collar!!!!!!!! we tried it with Dakota....scared him so bad he kept yelping and the dang thing kept shocking him...hurt the poor dog ....I agree with the music idea....that may help. There is a newer collar out....when they bark it sprays a fine mist of some liquid, the combination of being sprayed/scent turns most dogs off....my friend did this with her dog..worked pretty well.. |
Date: 1/13/2005 6:48:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232 NKA...do you know my boyfriend? He said that we should have matching collars so I can get shocked when I talk too much! |
Date: 1/13/2005 7:11:00 PM From Authorid: 35825 I agree...play music...might help calm him down. |
Date: 1/13/2005 7:29:00 PM From Authorid: 3901 get a citronella bark collar. Instead of shocking the dog, it sprays citronella in their face so it doesnt hurt them at all... and you know you wont have mosquitoes in your house lol. |
Date: 1/13/2005 7:38:00 PM From Authorid: 42945 I have a dog next door that drives us nuts when the owners go out and they found a great solution, a collar that has a thing on it, that every time he barks it releases a whiff of CITRONELLA and it really works....all you have to do is remember to fill the little thingy lol!!! it came from the vet....hugs |
Date: 1/13/2005 8:38:00 PM From Authorid: 53909 My dad got one for my dog a few years ago because he barked a lot. It left him a nasty scare, bruise or whatever it was on where it would shock him. Scooter kept barking and it would keep shocking it..it never helped him stop barking. I hate those things, I think that they are awful. Now my dad has another dog who barks a lot as well and of course he won't put a shock collar on him because it's his baby. He didn't like Scooter that much so he didn't care that it was on him before. I would never put those on any animals. |
Date: 1/13/2005 8:47:00 PM From Authorid: 30742 Get him a girlfriend to take his mind off being alone, LOL. Or leave the TV on for him, a blanky with your scent to remind him you will be back. |
Date: 1/14/2005 3:23:00 AM From Authorid: 58308 They have the citronella bark collars as well. When they bark, a puff of citronella comes out and they don't like it. |
Date: 1/14/2005 8:15:00 AM From Authorid: 62675 Those collars are evil. |
Date: 1/14/2005 8:15:00 AM From Authorid: 62675 I know someone who put their dog on prozac cause everytime he wasn't home the dog ate his couches. Works well. |
Date: 1/15/2005 1:25:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57232 Thanks everybody for your help. I hope that the citronella collars aren't expensive Thanks again and Crooked Halo's link is VERY helpful if anyone is experiencing the same thing. |
