Grocery stores sometimes hire 15 year olds. I work at Tops Friendly Markets (a northest chain in NY, Ohio, and some Canada and Penn.). I was hired on my 15th birthday in May 2003. Malls tend to want you to be 18, which really sucks. Oh and you might be able to be a dishwasher for a place like Ponderosa or something like that.  |

I'm sorry, typo... I was 15 and a half when I got hire into Burger King. But when you get hired into fast food so young, labor laws will prevent you from dealing with food. You'll only be able to handle registers / lobby / and drive-thru. - |

Grocery stores here dont hire till 16 and most restraunts wont hire til your 17 or 18. I've considered fast food, but all dad does is lecture me about taking a job at a fast food place :-/ Thanx for the ideas tho!! :-D  |

It's gonna be hard to get a job here, most employers won't hire you at that age because of labor laws which change when you're sixteen, but good luck.  |

I have the same problem but luckily I turn 16 in less than a month. I couldn't find work anywhere either. The only place I knew of that hires under 16 is IHOP and they hire at 14. But the closest IHOP to me is 45 miles away so that didn't work out. Good Luck and Happy New Year!! Michelle AKA  |

Babysit, and ask your relatives to recommend you. Make up some flyers for your neighborhood. I made good money in my community as a babysitter. The more you do it and the older you get, the higher you can charge. Plus, one of my clients ended up writing a recommendation for me for one of my scholarships. Start looking for a summer job soon, too. The positions fill up fast.  |

Fast food joints may not be the BEST place to work...BUT...it's a way of earning money, at least for 6 months until you're 16 and your opportunities widen. Perhaps you could placate your Dad by saying that it'd only be until you are 16 and then you'll look for something better. At least you're TRYING to find work and not relying on your parents to come up with money for things like so many of today's kids do.  |
