The first offense for aggravated animal cruelty and a second offense for animal cruelty are Class E felonies, punishable by a prison sentence of one to six years and fines of up to $3,000. First offenses for animal cruelty are still Class A misdemeanors punishable by a prison term of up to 11 months and 29 days, and fines of up to $2,500. Animal cruelty includes torturing, injuring or grossly overworking an animal, as well as abandonment or failing to provide food and water. Aggravated animal cruelty involves torture or abuse that leads to death or serious injury of an animal. In addition to fines and possible jail time, those convicted of animal cruelty can be sued for up to $5,000 by the owner of the animal that was injured or killed. |

I do not agree with first and second cases....there should be no cases.....one case is all it should take to give that particular person the maximum. I don't care if they aer 12 or 112...they should be put in prison....however. I can't change the laws. But I will say that when I'm on duty....I sure do enforce them. |

This is just my oppinion.But I have a feeling their life at home is not that good.So sad.I remmember when I was alittle kid I hit a dog with awikkow switch.My mom caught me and used on me.She siad how does it feel I cried, now young man think about that poor animal. She told me you will never enter Gods heaven if you are cruel to his animals. I never forgot that. I love all animals and more so as I get older.Jason-5 |
