Phantom of the Opera--by Emi

Put all of the critics from your mind and go and see this movie. (The critics are being really stupid right now.)

The story of a deformed man who lives in the basement of the Opera house and a young girl who comes to be a chorus girl after her father dies. After hearing the young saprano Christine Daae sing, he falls madly in love with her. But the young Raoul loves her too. A battle for her heart, the phantom begins to murder in order to help her become a star and win her love...

The acting and singing were wonderful. Christine's voice was a bit shakey in the first song, but by the end of that song you could tell she was going to do a good job. Each character had their own strong, defined voice.

The singing was only enhanced by the beautiful arcitexture in the movie, such as the beautiful chandalier that falls to the ground. The effects were beautiful and amazing.

If you know the musical well, then a bit of it is out of order, but by the end, you'll be satisfied even though it isn't like the play. If you've seen it many times, you will notice other little differences, but that still doesn't take away from the movie at all.

Basically an 8 out of 10. Absolutely magnificent. A definite must see.

Note: it's only playing right now in select theatres. Well worth the travel. But it should be coming to all theatres by January.
