I don't know..I think that our karma probably was predetermined in another life sometimes..like the struggles that we go through now are as penance for bad deeds or unresolved issues in a past existence. Although I do also have this theory about my current life throwing me a big curveballas a punishment dealt out in the current life because of something I did in THIS life..My sister and I had our daughters 9 monthes apart..My sister got quite heavy while I regained my figure..and we were talking about her weight one day and she stated that "Oh well, I just had a baby" and I stated mockingly "So did I.."..then later I started gaining all of this weight gradually and now I weigh 220 pounds as compared to just 8 years ago when I weighed 135 pounds soaking wet. Now granted, I did have another child and due to the circumstances involved I did go through a depression and period where I didn't care what I looked like..but maybe that was karma saying "okay..be cocky about your weight postpregnancy NOW!!" |

I do believe that in the end we reap what we have sown. I don't think we get punished for things done by acident like the example of hitting an animal. I think bad karma comes from delibetate acts of crulty or neglect. As a Chrisitian I follow that what ever you do unto the least you do to Me that Jesus spoke of sort of karma in a way... |

Hi, Enigmanytes (cool screen name I consider "karma" and "conscience" to be synonymous. As for the "cat" example: No bad karma comes of that one. Sometimes, things just happen. If I think that I should do something, treat someone or something a certain way, open a door for someone, etc, etc... then I probably should go ahead and do it. Otherwise, I will probably feel guilty later..or I might just ignore that feeling...hehe..Karma is strange..Excellant post, lady. Write on.... |

I believe that action causes reaction, no matter what that said action is. there are natural and man made consequences to what 'we sow'. I do not believe that one is cosmically punished as much as we cause punishment to ourselves. I believe that is what karma is...ones deep pyschi coming back to haunt them. if one is a sociopath, I do not believe that they have karma as they feel no remorse for their deeds....whether or not they come back in a new life time with a sudden conscience and then feel their "karma", I do not know. That would be a new debate or discussion though *hmmmmm, thinks I might just do that one:P* anyway....back on topic...I do not believe accidents cause any cosmic reaction. I think ones guilt, warranted or not is the "karmic" reaction |

I believe karma is a bit like the story of Oedipous (Sp? the guy who married his mother and killed his father.) He had free will yet there was a kinda control over the major events. I think karma is there, something even the gods cannot control yet it plays into the 'destiny' of things. |

Karma comes from purposely doing things not accidents. Especially how you handle the situation. If you didn't stop the car and check on the cat that would constitute as bad karma. Karma is also what comes with us from past lives. We have to pay the consequences either in this life or in the next. Once you debts have been paid you do not come back to earth... Ghost-chick |

I believe in Karma very much I reckon you only make bad karma if you do something intentionally to someone/something....If it was Definitely an accident, ie there's no way you could have seen that cat, it can't possibly be your fault. |

I believe what goes around comes around. Say if you do something bad to another person then it'll come back around to you later on. |

There are actually 4 different types of Karma... The SaBija Karma (karma that has been brought into this life), Agami karma (karma that has been acquired in this life), Prarhbdha Karma (karma that is currently being played out), and Dridha karma (karma that produces the inevitable). To really understand karma, you have to understand each variety. Everything effects everything else, it'a a unversal law. Now in applying that to your example of the dead cat. Yes, it would cause some type of Karmic effect. But karma is not a punishment, it's a cause and effect thing and it begins with your thoughts. If you're really interested in learning more about Karma, I suggest you read the Karma Maual by Dr. John Mumford. It explains each type of Karma in very understandable terms. The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukov is very good for the basics of how your thoughts and intentions work to create Karma. |

I believe in karma. I think it only applies to things that you do on purpose though. I don't think running over an animal by accident etc... will come back on you. That's just my opinion though. I hope the people who ruined my Christmas get what they deserve. Though I might have some bad karma coming my way for wishing them a slow death. That's ok though. The only bad thing left to happen to me is dying anyway. Other than that, it can't get any worse. I hope you had a nice Christmas. |

In my own opinion, if you do something to intentionally hurt or scar another person, you deserve for the same thing to happen to you, even worse than you originally dished it out. What goes around comes around. Just remember that person you hurt when the same crap is happening the you. |

Okay.. I probably don't knnow what I'm talking about.. but, I seriously belive that EVERYTHING you do comes back, good and bad. Okay, on the cat thing I think if that happened something bad but small would happen.. like, you bump your head getting out of your car or you accidently cut yourself with a knife when you're cutting some veggies or something like that. Now, say you hold the door open for some little old lady with a bunch of bags in her hands, I think something like finding a dollar or something along those lines. Hopefully someone will understand what I'm talking about. -TyLyn |

Mrs.Strider : yes i hear what your saying , the term do unto others as you wish done unto yourself defintly plays into effect when it comes to karma . unfortunately in jesus's case he was a good kind man and bad still was had upon him for the will and glory he possessed , as in this day back then the unknown was a scary and to them punishable thing by law . I am glad we are moving further away from those barberic instincts yet , the past was cruel . But we can only learn from our mistakes . thanks for replying many blessings to you |

Kronk : thanks for the compliment on my name yes i agree with you . i know hitting teh cat wasn't a faulted thing . But i guess we all get to walk around with guilt as you said . there are some things in life that linger with us no matter how hard we try to forget or move past them . this existence is defintly a strange one indeed thanks for posting |

blossom : i very much so agree with you . We are defintly our biggest punishers . I know that when something bad happens especially out of my control i feel bad very bad and i have in the past punished myself very much for it . And i agree also that if you are say a sociopath you probally wouldnt reep karma like a non sociopath would , but then agian mabe you would , but it just isnt as reconizeable . for instance they live very miserable lives because of their disease in turn that could be bad karma per say .Things such as this are defintly a mystery though . thanks for posting |
