What is he thinking?

Recently my ex - boyfriend has been calling me, being really sweet, and really looking out for me. It always seems like he wants to tell me something, but he doesnt, or he says it's "nothing". I dont know what the deal is, and it confuses me, because at first he says he doesnt want to go out again, but at the same time, it seems as if we are, even though I know it is not the case.
