New stuff in town -- Mike

So, what's new in your town? I'll tell you what's new in my town. I live in a small, rural town in southern California 90 miles southeast of Los Angeles. It isn't going to be this way much longer though. They're building houses like crazy out here. Why, my parents bought their house for $90,000 in 1994. In just the past two years I've seen single story houses go from $200,000 to some of them now being over $400,000! Most of them are in the $300,000 range, as is my parent's house. Of course the two story houses are worth even more. To accommodate the new people, mostly from LA or out of state, they've been building lots of new things. We've had a Blockbuster video since 2002. Just recently however alot of things have been built in my town. Not long ago a Yellow Basket restaurant has opened up. I don't know if they have any out of state, but if you have one you must eat there. They have great food! I recommend their patty melts. Not long ago a Papa John's pizza opened up. They have great pizza, the best in town now, easily usurping Domino's from its throne. Next door to it is some new ice cream place, can't place the name, and the EBGames where I got my christmas present. A Ross has also opened recently, and a second Bank of America. Within the coming year my dentist is moving from a small building to a huge, three story affair. That's all I can think of for now, but I'll keep you all updated. Not in my town, but 10 miles away a new waterpark is slated to open next year! So what's new or up and coming in your area?

Date: 12/26/2004 9:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 53909    They just built a new mall not too far from me. The only store I like is Hot Topic there. They have Gap, Gap Kids, Gap Baby, and all those richy type of stores....blah and boring stores. They built a Quizno's a couple blocks down from me.
Date: 12/26/2004 10:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 36766    Nothing new around here besides another pizza shop that we don't need, since we already have 4 & this town isn't very big to begin w/ . I wish there was a Starbucks close by, though. The closest one we have is 45 minutes away, in a different state.
Date: 12/27/2004 6:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    We have a new high school which now boasts the title of largest in the state (why it was necessary, I don't know... we're a small town), and we're fighting getting a new Walmart.
Date: 12/28/2004 9:46:00 AM  From Authorid: 4144    we are surrounded by new houses and business. it's really sucks too except when i want something!! within the past 5 years we have two super walmarts, every steakhouse and bar you can name, mini malls, hollywood video has really messed with blockbusters business! we have everything but the one thing i want. DUNKIN DOUGHNUTS! the closest one is a 2 hour drive!!
Date: 12/29/2004 10:08:00 AM  From Authorid: 16845    Well see in my home town there's a new bank going in!....AND they took away my free atm! *HMPH!*
