BAH HUMBUG!!! Dark Crow

It's the day before Christmas eve. Christmas eve eve. Things should be happy and jolly and festive, right? HA! NOT.

My family, as small as it is, is spread out over various parts of the state. None so far that you have to pack a lunch, but easily a good hour from me when there's no traffic. Of course, everyone wants to see me on Christmas eve and/or Christmas. I, on the other hand, do not feel like spending my Christmas in the car, because that's exactly what I'd be doing! So, I decided that to be fair, I'd stay home. That way my dad can't get mad because I went to visit my aunt, uncle and grandma instead of him, and they can't get mad because I chose to visit my dad instead. Sounds like an easy compromise, no? OH NO! I got a cold email from my aunt, and an equally arctic phone call from my dad: how DARE I stay home? Don't I know it's CHRISTMAS??

Someone tell me HOW exactly that is supposed to make me feel warm and fuzzy, cheery and festive?

Date: 12/23/2004 9:53:00 AM  From Authorid: 56293    Don't check your email, or take phone calls
Date: 12/23/2004 9:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 49763    Tell them to come visit you since you can't be more than one place at once. *HUGS* ~~
Date: 12/23/2004 9:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 35808    Id tell them that if they want to see you THEY can get in the car and drive Merry Christmas btw!
Date: 12/23/2004 10:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 58078    First off your aunt and uncle shouldn't get mad at you for chosing your own father over them. But can't you spend xmas eve at one house and xmas day at the other. If not, then follow your heart, you can't be at both places at once and they need to accept that. If you choose to stay home that is YOUR decision and YOURS only. They have no right to get upset over it or give you an attitude. I do agree though that you shouldn't be alone. Why not pick up your father and go to your aunts? or maybe that can't be done. I don't know I would probably chose my father. I'm close with him though I don't know how you are with yours.

Date: 12/23/2004 11:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 44321    I don't think it is so horrible you chose to stay home.. they just as well can take the time to stop by your house to visit.. visiting family is a 2 way street in my opinion lol take turns to visit
Date: 12/23/2004 11:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 44321    I noticed I used the word *visit* too many times in that short little comment lol
Date: 12/23/2004 12:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 3642    warm and cozy cup of tea with maybe a good movie no guilt maybe aleast one Of the days should be yours to do as you will
Date: 12/23/2004 12:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 16061    Why dont they come and visit YOU. Then you all win.
Date: 12/23/2004 12:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    Just knowing your family is alive and fighting for time with you is a wonderful gift. As hard as it is to go all over God's creation to see everyone during this season, this is the time when wonderful memories made to be cherished long from now are made. So sacrifice a little for a lot...or miss out on a few warm fuzzies. If you stay home, you will end up longing for their company...no? Whatever you decide, I wish you a safe, warm, cheerful Christmas day with tons of precious memories to pull out on grey and rainy days! MUCH LOVE
Date: 12/23/2004 5:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 53558    Families you can't with them and you can't live without them...hugss..
Date: 12/23/2004 6:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 3125    Isn't that what the ole Christmas spirit is all about?? Really, Sue gets upset because Aunt Mary gave her son a set of matchbox cars, but Aunt Mary gave Bob's son a 10 speed bike, and Uncle Joe visited Carol and her husband before he visited his brother John and his wife. To beat it all, Grandma spent the night with James instead of Emmy, and she gave James $50, but only gave Emmy some homemade cookies and candy and a knitted sweater. Really, the stores that takes all the money doesn't care how any family is doing as long as those credit cards are maxed out on expensive gifts. The post office doesn't seem to mind delivering all those Christmas cards that are send with impersonal engraved messages from those who had not bothered with keeping in touch at any other time of the year. As far as they know, you could have died during spring two years ago. Hope you enjoy the Christmas season.
