This is just a thought, but maybe it's because they feel really alone...And seeing other people come together all happy, knowing that they care about each other, makes them wish they could experience that feeling too.. |

Sometimes the holidays are just too much for some people..they try so hard to hide how they really feel and seeing all of that happiness around them and not being able to enjoy it for whatever reason just depresses them all the more. |

Not all people can see the good side in life, and not all can actually take it. There's lots of reasons people don't like the holidays. Some of their loved ones die around that time sometime, others are stuck going to two different places like me (divorced parents), some are just really lonely, there's lots of reasons why people get depressed over the holidays. Used to be hard for me to wake up in the mornings, just didn't wanna do it, didn't want to go through another day, but I made it through that, and I see the good things in life, but some people get lost and confused and never get to come to the better part of life. Sadly, most that get lost commit suicide, and it usually happens aroud holidays because they're either a happy time, or a sad time. >>hugs<< |

i don't know. i would think there are a lot of different reasons people get depressed during the holidays. i think a lot of it is that they think noone cares about them. or they don't have family. a friend of mine gets depressed when she can't buy her kids everything they want for Christmas. they usually get thousands of dollars worth of stuff but if it's not every little thing they want they get upset. there's just too much worry about presents and junk like that. my kid has never gotten everything she has wanted even if we coulld afford it. i don't think i have ever been that depressed over the holidays. tired and worn out but not depressed! |

the holidays is all about celebrating and with family and friends.. and when you dont have the family and friends to celebrate you can feel very lonely.. for some the holidays are just another reminder of being single and alone |
