Born: James Maury Henson on September 24 1936, in Greenville, Mississippi. Died: May 16 1990, New York, New York (pneumonia).
Jim Henson originally never thought that he would make a name for himself in puppetry. It was merely a way of getting himself on television. The vehicle that achieved that was Sam and Friends, a late-night puppet show that was on after the 11:00 news in Washington D.C..
Henson died the weekend he was going to sell his company to Disney.
