Potato chips are America's favorite snack food.

Americans spend over $10 million dollars a day on them, making potato chips big business.

Potato chips were first produced by an exasperated cook who was trying to please a fussy costomer.

The customer kept returning his fried potatoes because they were not thin enough.

The cook finally sliced them so thin that the result was potato chips.

The customer loved them and they soon became a house specialty.
