In my opinion that was not romantic, it was ridiculous, I personally would rather have my husband's finger attached, than a piece of metal that could easily be purchased again, or bought. A ring is nowhere near as valuable as my love's beautiful fingers. The doctors should not have given him a choice. If the marriage doesn't work out, he will be missing a finger for the rest of his life. Poor guy! |

I'm sorry, they could cut/ destroy/ incinerate the darn ring for all I care. It's a chunk of metal. |

I gotta go with BCar, they can cut, burn, destroy my ring, I'd be upset sure, but it could be replaced, they shouldn't have even given the idiot a CHOICE *rolls eyes* |

I still think it was romantic ( as well as stupid). But hey, he's young. Personally, I'd rather have my finger. Good point DP... |

in THEORY it's a romantic gesture, in practice...it's stupid...and he should have someone kick his butt....if nothing else they BOTH coulda gotten new rings... Like someone else said, what if that marriage didn't last? *shakes head* |

LOL DMK, I have to agree. I'm sure his wife would have gotten over it, or I'd hope so anyway. |

I agree with everyone that called him a nut job. Its a bloody piece of metal, who cares, the kid was probably so doped up on morphine that he didn't realise what he was agreeing to. Besides which, he could have had the stupid thing soldered back together if it was the be all end all for him. |

I think that was really sweet. I mean that was his FIRST wedding band. From the DAY of his wedding. If someone told me i would lose my Tiffany anniversary ring or my finger, I'd pick my finger. I mean sure i could go back and buy the exact same ring on tiffanys.com but it wouldn't be MY ring. I mean they already had to cut off most of his finger anyway.......Frontzgirl |

I don't think he was stupid for choosing the ring over his finger. I think it WAS stupid though that they apparently lost the ring. |

Do you seriously think that a chunk of metal is more important than your health? If they can't get your slave bracelet off does that mean you would let them cut off your hand? |

I have to agree with the others..Its a piece of metal..When I worked at the lumber mill my hands swelled really badly..Now I wasnt going to cut off my finger to save the wedding band that was imbedded in my finger from the swelling..I had them cut off the band! Its a ring..replacable (although I am still waiting two years later..LOL) |

Speaking from the point of view of someone who has been married 6 years and has had to buy 3 wedding rings for my husband, it is just a chunk of metal. He still has the first one that broke, and the second one he lost (he was upset, I was a little ticked, but I got over it) and is on ring # 3. Rings can be fixed, a missing finger is forever (or at least until technology gets better...) |

I agree it was a bit stupid but I feel it was romantic none the less Though I would be upset the my boy lost his finger... where is he going to wear the wedding ring now? LOL! Ghost-chick |

I agree with you all. I would rather keep my finger too. But I still think it's messed up that they lost his ring, after he chose ( and it was his choice) to lose his finger instead of his ring... |

the thought behind the gesture is sweet, but i dont even think so. i would not trade a finger for a ring. ya can get another ring and it will be just as special as the other one. hes stupid... @_0 @_0 |

I don't know Shay. His finger was badly mangled anyway. I know I would be upset if I lost my ring. Although I would rather have my finger ( but if it was badly mangled I dont know) |
