"They..They...Who...What".......kronk

They speak of love like it was some commodity.

They point and they stare, as if we were some oddity.

Who gave them the right to explain-away our existence?

What makes them think we'd succumb to insistence?

They thought us once that to hate was intolerable.

They said, "To die for what is *right* is quiet honorable."

Who are the ones expected to decipher the rhetoric?

What is the use, when they brand us a heretic?

They "will" understand, as they lay there a dying.

They will know we were young and that we were "just trying."

Who can "we" blame, when we end up like them?

What to be done? The cycle begins....again.

Date: 12/10/2004 2:14:00 AM  From Authorid: 33925    Kronk this poem is amazing...I will tell you what it made me think of..Not sure if that was what you were getting at..I thought of all those young soldiers out there fighting in the war..trying to follow in the footsteps of those gone before them. Trying to live up to the expectations of family, gov't and past war veterens and feeling like they dont "measure up"...

Date: 12/10/2004 9:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 4548    the thing about speaking prophetically is that you don't always know you're being prophetic. "the powers that be, that force us to live like we do, bring me to my knees, when i see what they've done to you. and i'll die as i stand here today, knowing that deep in my heart, they'll fall to ruin one day, for making us part." -the pretenders
Date: 12/10/2004 9:32:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21435    Lady Luck Well said, lady. Indeed, you have noticed that the key is "young." My Father-in-law is eighty and I'm fifty-two. He still calls me a punk...hehehe..At times, the generation gap does run deep. Bless our young soldiers, yes. Thank you for reading and for your xcellant perspective, my friend...

Date: 12/10/2004 9:48:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21435    Hi, Jezebel Makes a lot of sense, yes it does. I usually don't know it's important 'till someone points it out. Then, of course, it worries me constantly. "By the time all the hair turns grey, all my "grey-matter" will be gone, also..*wink* Thank you for coming, my lady. (Crissy Hind rocks)
Date: 12/10/2004 10:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 46320    Like a big neverending circle. Ladyluck and I must be on the same wavelength, that is what this poem made me think of also. Great writing Kronk. Be Good...

Date: 12/10/2004 1:51:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21435    Morning Glory Hey there, lady I guess I'll go the teenager, young lover, soldier, route, myself. Whose parents, bosses, siblings or spouses ever "really" understand?? Some times it gets real crowded in my noggin.. Thank you for reading, my friend..
Date: 12/10/2004 2:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 26363    In reading it,I first thought of young lovers but then, after further reading I was forced to think of forbidden love, however one may decipher that. Very interesting poem sweetie.
Date: 12/10/2004 10:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 11952    seems like people fight for something their whole life, and all for something that they thought they believed in just because everyone else believed in it. I really liked this writing. one of the best ive seen in a long time.
Date: 12/10/2004 10:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 12341    How sad those young ones fight for, and die for anyone who doesn't understand. Even more if they die without ever realizing why.
Date: 12/13/2004 8:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 62927    This puts the write to what I fight against. Well put. Thanks Kronk! Celtic River
