Speaking of bad gifts...has this ever happend to you???

HI all,

Reading everyone's comments about best and worst Christmas gifts reminded me of something.

Has anyone ever given you the same (possibly generic) gift they got you the year before? Has it happened more than once???

I don't mean the really generic things like Candy, fruit baskets, and baked goods.

Those may be VERY generic but most of us love candy and baked goods.

One year, an aunt gave me an Aggravation game. The next year, I got another one. A little less generic than a box of candy but still something she must have bought lots of and then just handed them out.

I thanked her for them both times as my mom taught me good manners.

Or, have any of you done this without realizing it until later?

These posts are fun to read which is why I bring this up. I do know that no one owes you anything and it's always nice of them when they get you something.

Gift Wrapped Hugs, SeaPrincess

Date: 12/8/2004 7:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    Seems to me (though not quite what you mean) when I was young (I mean under 10) one of my aunts kept getting me sweaters....wool ones at that....so not only did they have bad patterns on them....they were wool so I couldn't even dream of wearing it. I sent a thankyou but got snippy saying 'no more sweaters, I can't wear wool' LOL *hangs head in shame* hey it ended it!...last year she got me some shirts....that would have fit a 10 year old....I got a huge kick out of it 'she expects me to get into these HOW??'...LOL

Date: 12/8/2004 8:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 54570    yep. I got a plastic black bear in a wooden crate one year. On the side it said "Great Smokey Mountains" on it. On the bottom there was still the price tag. $2.99 This was from a very close relative. The same relative gave my brothers nice leather wallets with $50 in each one plus some pictures inside as well. And to make it worse they were seven years younger than me and I was the one who helped them out and did the "chores" such as firewood and stuff. That was just one of several that I can think of.

Date: 12/8/2004 8:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 37843    The girl I call my sister (shes not my sister) gave me the same birthday card twice (there was a year between them) we both thought it was hilarious... she did it without realizing it. It was a funny card, I still have both.

Date: 12/8/2004 10:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 12341    A gift is a symbol from the heart, regardless of the worth or value, I could care less. To be thought of is more than enough. I have a curio filled with gifts from my grandbabies. They are mostly hand made and are priceless.

Date: 12/9/2004 7:15:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 33978    Yes Brenda, that is basically what I had also tried to point out. Yes, it is nice to be thought of but no not all gifts are from the heart at all.
Date: 12/9/2004 10:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 4144    i have to write down everything i buy and who i give it to so i won't do that!! the one gift i give every year is homeade fudge. the guys in my family get a little hyped up if they don't get their fudge!! one year i was sick for a while before Christmas and i didn't feel like making it and i gave them cookie tins. i got dirty looks and smart mouth remarks!!! i was informed that i could wait til i feel better and make it even if it's after Christmas!!
Date: 12/9/2004 11:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 28193    No, this hasn't happened to me, but I have got the same Christmas cards two years in a row from the same person. My kids got two of those "Jenga" games one Christmas.
