Morning guys

Well 12 days ago I quit smoking. I found the first three days the hardest (man was it hard!) but its been okay since. The hardest, so far was also on the weekend (last weekend) because I was drinking and for me a beer and a smoke have always gone hand in hand. There I was, up the coast with a beer in one hand .... and nothing in my other. It made me very anxious for some reason. BUT I purposely went away for the weekend and didnt bring a single cigarette with me, so I couldnt have had one anyway because we were camping on a beach about 30 mins away from the closest shop..... though I must say there was a stage that I was tempted to jump in my boyfriends 4x4 and burn off in search of a ciggie!!

My bf and I are having our house warming party this saturday nite and its going to be a big nite .... lots of people, lots of beer and the weather is going to be HOT, HOT, HOT! Which I love!!

Now THIS is going to test my strength!!!

Anyone else quit recently? How are you going??

sunny :)

Date: 11/25/2004 3:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 29532    I hope your not asking me to quit, cause if I quit right now, I would die, rot, burn, hate, bleed pine, and crave them till I caved. It would not, should not, could not go, in any way shape or form, no way, no how nuh uh, nope. no. I cna't do it right now, no way, no no no. LOL. howd' ya like that reply????? Do you REALLY think I could quit? I seriously don't. Not now. Someday yes. After intense, severe psychotherapy and deep hypnosis, it MAY be slightly possible, but you better give me a lake of gum and a water tower full of tooth pics for me to snap in pieces. LOL.

Date: 11/25/2004 3:06:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20956    lol @ pinkbunny!! I miss them .... its like losing a friend!! I sit down, crack open a ice cold beer and then ... nothing Do it when you're ready, but to be perfectly honest I dont think you're ever really ready .... I could take it back up in a second!! The most depressing thing was that I was talking to a guy that quit 2 years ago and he said he still craves them now. Its gonna kill me, i am telling you!

Date: 11/25/2004 6:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 62915    I was going to give up last week and I lated 3 days but then I got really upset and I needed one :P I have given up for weeks before so I know I can do it but I am finding it hard to know why exactly I am stopping I have figured I'm just going to majorly cut back. I have a few smokes left. I wonder how long I can go between packets? Ghost-chick
Date: 11/25/2004 7:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    My fiance and I both quit last year just before Christmas. I had been trying for quite a while with no success before that, but then my fiance got the flu and he could not breath which really scared us alot. I had to take him to the ER and he had to have 2 double dose breathing treatments because he had virtually no air entering his lungs. When we got home he looked at me and told me how scry not being able to breath had been and that he wasn't going to end up with emphysema or COPD or something if he could help it..so since he wasn't able to be smoking while he was sick, we just made a decision then and there to just quit cold turkey. It wasn't too awful hard really- I mean, I had some days where I was really stressed and just wanted one but I didn't do it. We actually had 2 packs sitting tucked away in a dresser drawer "just in case" but after they sat there for 3 monthes without us touching them we finally tossed them.
Date: 11/25/2004 7:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    Oh..the urge is still there occassionally, don't get me wrong, it's just easier for me probably because I only smoked for maybe 2 to 2 and a half years. But when I SMELL it on someone or in the air, I get a stronger urge than normal.
Date: 11/26/2004 12:08:00 AM  From Authorid: 36766    Congrats to you!! I quit smoking before for about 4 months. I started back up again because I was dealin' w/ some hard times & I thought smoking would help me deal w/ it, stupid idea, I know. I could probably quit again, but I don't think the ppl around me would like me much, lol, I might get a lil crazy on em.
Date: 11/26/2004 8:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 42792    I quit over two months ago after smoking for around 18 years. I feel a lot better but the cigarette dreams are bothering me. I dream bout them probably 3 to 4 times a week. My skin looks WAYYYYYY better and I smell a lot better. I am a bit hungrier. I stopped losing weight but haven't gained any. I do have more energy.
Date: 11/26/2004 8:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 42792    also, I chewed on straws to help me through. That lasted about three weeks. I would suck air through the straw when I got really, really irritated.
