To use Bush's own words: "Some people will say anything to get elected". Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice---I won't get fooled Again! I'm Thinker and I approve this message. |
Date: 10/31/2004 3:35:00 PM ( Admin-DNL ) One thing that frustrates me so much about this election is misleading ads from both candidates. It just makes me all the more confused in what I am supposed to believe.... |
Date: 10/31/2004 3:46:00 PM From Authorid: 24924 I have not seen a misleading ad of Kerry's, Danielle. Perhaps you could point out something that I might have missed? But "misleading" is a very kind, rather understandment, when referring to Bush ads. Karl Rove is a political genius; very brutal and scary genius no less, but still. |
Date: 10/31/2004 3:52:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53689 Thinker, in all fairness, Kerry has done some misleading of his own. I would advise everyone to spends some time looking at factcheck.org before they vote on tuesday. But from what I have seen, the Bush campaign has been a bit more misleading than Kerry's. |

your right Tarheel girl Announcer: They were hoping to keep it a secret , but we just learned that George Bush and the Republicans are planning to privatize Social Security after the election. Bush and the Republicans have already put Social Security at risk with a record deficit of over $400 billion. Now Bush and the Republicans have a plan to privatize Social Security that cuts benefits by 30 to 45 percent.A new Kerry ad that began airing late last week repeats this falsehood even more starkly than at first, claiming Bush and his Republican supporters "were hoping to keep it a secret" that they "are planning to privatize Social Security after the election" and that the plan "cuts Social Security benefits by 30 to 45 percent." It repeats: "Bush and the Republicans, a plan to cut Social Security benefits." Actually, Bush has repeatedly said he won't cut benefits for anyone currently receiving them, or about to start getting them. His intention to create private Social Security accounts is certainly no "secret" since he talked about that during the campaign four years ago, and in his acceptance speech at the Republican convention in early September. Furthermore, Bush hasn't proposed any specific plan as yet. The "cut" the ad refers to is an estimate by the Congressional Budget Office of the effect of holding starting benefit levels at current levels adjusted only for inflation, rather than pushing them up each year in line with wages as has been done since 1977. |

Date: 10/31/2004 4:22:00 PM ( Admin-DNL ) I was watching some "Truth Check" on 9 news and they were pointing out some things that both candidates have mislead about. I forgot what they said a Kerry ad was misleading about, something like Bush said something but they took it out of context,. I forgot exactly what it was. I think it is coming from both sides, although it seems to be coming more from Bush then Kerry. Then again I am biased. |
Date: 11/1/2004 3:55:00 AM From Authorid: 17081 A Kerry ads says Bush plans to cut social security benefits by 30-45%. That is misleading. Lying, I should say. |
