Well its a lil complicated but from my understanding people over 18 who are legal citizens and not imprisoned (minus 2 states) can vote. To vote you have to register at least once unless you move then you have to reregister. There's the 2 main canidates plus a few independent ones but Americans seem to not get that they can actually vote outside of the 2 canidates! *Anyways* November 2nd they vote, then here's the stupid part: each state depending on it's population size has so many 'electoral' votes. That means that if CA votes Kerry he'd have a lot of those but if like IA votes Bush he'd only get a few. So basically if that's the case then in IA all the Kerry votes are cancelled out and Bush wins all their electoral votes... The canidate with the most electoral votes wins...and that's not always the canidate who got the most REAL votes (Gore won the 'popular' vote in the last election.) And that is why a lot of American's don't vote! ![]() |

HEY GAZZA!!!!!!!! Good to see you around these parts again!! Although I dont completely understand the voting system myself, I vote to make my voice and opinions heard, regardless of if the candidate I vote for wins or looses. ![]() |
