EAST GREENWICH, N.J. - An expectant mother who climbed over a fence topped with razor wire to escape from the Gloucester County Women's Correctional Facility was captured Friday, authorities said.
Gail Boden was discovered hiding in a friend's apartment at 9:30 a.m. after eluding police since Thursday afternoon.
Boden, who is five months pregnant, climbed over a 14-foot fence topped with razor wire, according to Stanley Nunn, who heads the county corrections department.
She may have had someone waiting for her outside the fence, Nunn said.
"We're not sure whether or not she was picked up," he said.
When police and corrections officers found Boden, she had several cuts, apparently caused by the razor wire, Nunn said.
She was taken to Underwood Memorial Hospital where she was also expected to be given a prenatal exam, he said.
Boden had been serving an 11-day sentence in the jail, imposed after she failed to pay municipal court fines, according to Nunn. She also was being held on a bench warrant issued after she failed to appear in state Superior Court for an arraignment on robbery charges, Nunn said.
