We used to be acquaintances, When we first met each other; A conversation was beyond expectations, Somehow, something pulls us together.
Our first conversation was hard, Not knowing how to keep the conversation rolling; But as time passed, We found ourselves chatting.
Our friendship grew like a blooming flower, We were together like forever, Not even our new friends, Could destroy this friendship.
We shared everything, Best friends shared; Our sorrows, happiness, love life, You name it.
Finally, It was time to leave each other, Our last promise was, “Friends Forever.”
We still keep in contact, After the day we parted; Phoning each other every night Like our usual activity.
Somehow, worldly affairs tore us apart, We no longer call each other, Nor do we keep the promise of Being friends forever.
It was a painful meeting, When I met you by accident, In our favourite restaurant, Dining with our business clients.
We acted like strangers, It was the same experience, Like the first day we met each other, Not knowing how to react. I was happy we met, After waiting for ten long years, I tried to attract your attention, But you tried to turn away from me.
Perhaps you did not notice me, As the restaurant was packed; But I caught you stealing looks at me, Giving me the “I-don’t-know-you” look.
Our friendship was tested, And we failed the test, Our first encounter after ten years, Was like the last one. I tried contacting you, In the hope of rebuilding, This long forgotten friendship. But my work was to no avail.
I do not want to give up, But you have killed, The burning spirit in me, We are finally separated.
Flashes of our happy memories, Haunted me for years, I wanted to mend our friendship, But you refused to cooperate.
Our blooming bud died Like an old flower, Not likely to be rebuilt.
