There are free clinics all over the place. They sell prenatal vitamins at Wal-mart that are just as good as prescribed prenatals. But i think that if you cant pay out of pocket $100-$400 a doctors visit, find a free clinic, please. If you need to talk send me a message. I am preggo with my second child and can help with the symptoms and stuff |

I had a friend who was in similar straights-- not because she lost her job, but because her insurance didn't cover child-birth and she got pregnant unexpectedly. Hers was a high risk pregnancy and she had to have a c-section, so she had no choice but to have the baby in the hospital and pay for it out of pocket. It was a ghastly expense, but she read a book on how to cut down on hospital expenses and saved herself a lot of money by bringing her own pillows, sheets, aspirin, tissues, etc. Hospitals are generally expensive. As an alternative-- if it is possible for you-- you might consider using a midwife. You can deliver a baby at a midwife center for a fraction of the cost-- I think I saw a quote somewhere that said 3 to 4 thousand dollars. |

Go to the library and check out books on natural childbirth, pre-natal care, health, vitamins, etc. Also, a lot of hospitals now have their own libraries where you can read about this stuff for free. The hospitals, or other listings should be able to put you in touch with midwives. Also, talk to the hospital about your situation--they should be able to advise you. Also, talk to insurance agents about health coverage; this is what they do, and they'll have access to information you don't! |

WOW! Things are so different in the USA! All our pregnancy and birthing things are free over here. I didn't realise things were so different! I wish I could help you and as for the person who said planned pregnancy I found that to be very rude and judgemental for someone who doesn't know all the facts. Goodluck to you and I hope things go well for you Ghost-CHick |

That does suck! Nowadays, they make it extra hard for honest people to get the help they need and deserve. Good luck, hun, and Congrats(!) on the baby! |
