I have come across nurse practitioners like this-- they get very hung up on their own point of view and try to force it on the patient, no matter what the patient thinks. Hence, she was bent on giving you the Depo shot whether you wanted it or not. I find it objectionable that you were *talked into* doing that in the first place-- I mean, what business is it of theirs to pressure you into making such a radical change in birth control (considering the side effects and all)? |

Mollycat-- when I talked to her on the phone she asked me why I chose not to get the shot. I told her I spoke to my cousin and a co-worker who had had lots of problems with it, as well as people on the internet. She actually had the nerve to say to me: "Well not to sound snotty but where did they get their doctoral degree's?" |

Wow Dizzy...nice hassle they put you thru. I was on birth control for about 8 years and I never had problems like that. Now after I had Draven is a different matter lol the pills I was on effected me differently giving me pregnancy symptoms almost monthly and various other probs so I had to stop taking them now it's a hassle to get on new ones since my family Dr moved over a year ago and my medical records are apperently trapped in a limbo lol. I wish you luck but I hope you tell her off a bit when you go back. |

I can't believe they did that. I have never known anyone to have to go through all that trouble for BC pills, specially if they were already on them. That really sucks. |

get another doctor.... after you get thepills never see her again.... maybe she makes more or the clinic makes more by pushing the shot... when you see her ask her why she told you that she couldnt fit you in till the end of the month then she magically got an opening AND how she told you to go to another clinic then still denied it... it sounds like more is going on then what she is saying(almost makes me wonder if she is going on a power trip here) |

I am horrified to see this happen! How rude and judgemental. I changed from the pill to the injection and personally I would not go back!! I love being on the injection and not having to worry about monthlies and missing a pill. It's pure bliss lol. On the other hand the pill is fine as well. Ultimatley it is a personal choice and you habve the right to make it and they should oblige. Sorry to hear you went through this *hugz* Ghost-Chick |

Good grief. What is with her? She's not a doctor, she needs to quit acting like one. In the mean time, go on, have a baby. The stork is following you! *evil laugh* |

oh, btw....my daughter is on the shot. she has break through bleeding constantly. she has not gained any weight that i can tell, but the bleeding causes her problems. she is still going to use the shot though. i do not think she is responsible enough to take a pill every day and neither does she. but beyond that, the shot is fine... |

Just in defense of nurses(to some of the ppl commenting like they are nothing or no one to make any informed and educated decisions)....(I am in nursing school)no, nurses can't do what this one was doing, but she's an Nurse Practitioner, so she is kind of like a doctor(no, she is not a doctor)but sure does have alot of authority, that's prob her clinic and she has other nurses(RNs and LVNs)working for her. She conferences with a doctor when need be. Not that what she did was right...but lighten up on nurses a little.....they are so very overworked and stressed all the time...you have no idea what they go through. I'm sorry this woman had you so frazzled....I don't know what her deal was...I'm still learning so i can't tell you why she was doing things the way she was...maybe Brenda can tell ya. Hug-A-NURSE(they really do need it sometimes), |

CBlossom-- I have been on the pill for 3 1/2 years. I am not a smoker and am not a high risk patient. I was taking tetracycline for one month to kinda help my skin-- but they told me that could mess with my pills even though the deromologist swears it won't. I told them I'm not taking the tetracycline anymore now that I know it supposedly messes with the effectivness of the birth control pills, but the NP acts like she doesn't believe me or something. I was to scream "If I wanted to get pregnant I'd go off the pill, idiot. I'm not taking any chances!" |

Yeah, it seems like your NP is on some sort of power trip. Typical it seems....I know one, who went through that after becoming one, she calls it her horrid God complex phase. Yeah, not all nurses are bad ppl. Just the ones who loathe their jobs I'm guessing. |
