this is midnight momma and i have a comment about this, my hubby works his butt off and gets NO where with his manager, if you ask me he is treated like a slave by this man. this man gives him NO respect at all and i mean at all....ok i could go on forever! my hubby has ALWAYS been a VERY VERY hard worker and for this man to give him a bad report is just crossing the line if you ask me. just had to voice my thoughts...i love you MD |

He might have given the bad report because he doesn't want to lose such a hard worker. I'd ask your manager why he would do that, though. |

Be straight forward. It's the best approach. It clears the air. |

I dont know what advice I could offer you hun...just to say that as someone else said here about the manager not wanting to lose you and will keep you with him no matter what does appear to be very unfair for you....not much you can do hun and at least it is a job for you....I'm sorry that you have to put up with all that crap from the manager....hugs |

First of all call the company you applied for and ask why you werent hired, then ask for an interview to be able to explain yourself for any doubts they may have <thats if you REALLY want this job>, then whether or not you find out confront your current manager. I applied for a job was was denied and I knew my recent old employer had something to do with it, so I called the job I was applying for and said I know why you didnt hire me and I want a chance to explain....well they gave me chance and now Ive been there for over 2 years no problems and I think a model employee. I then contacted my old empoler asked for my entire record file and found out that they said alot of bogus stuff just because of the falling out I had with them when I quit because I found out about a few illegal things they were doing towards the people we worked with or for. Just before I quit there I had a review that was just below perfect and I had been with that company on and off for 2 years due to other jobs I took. On top of it they told my new empolyer that they fired me which was a lie, I quit. Good luck! |

Sounds to me like he knows he has somthing good in you and he wants to make sure that he KEEPS it. In order to keep it resorted to low handed tactics. Not ethical and certainly not fair to you. I would confront him. I would take him into his little office and ask him WHY he felt the need to speak ill of you. I'm sorry this happened. All I can say it takes all kinds to make the world go round and unfortunately that includes liars and cheats. |

I would go to him, present a case to him on how many days you work with no time off, the things you do that your not suppose to do like drive the truck, ask him why the bad report and what you may have did to deserve it. Its nice that you like your job, but if he continues, I'd find a job with another company. |

I didn't think it was legal for an employer to pass on a bad reference. He can refuse a reference or sound on the vague side but I don't think what he did is legal. I would definately go back to the place you recently applied at and request an interview to discuss the reasons for not hiring. Take a copy of your work record with you. Good luck. |
