Hey! I know that I have never posted in this section before, but, I was thinking that alot of people here ask alot of Health questions, so, I was thinking, maybe we could have a special health section devoted to the sole purpose of just that. What do you think?

Date: 10/5/2004 4:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    I think...potentially it could cause problems...some might rely on the diagnosis of untrained professionals, which obviously wouldn't be a good thing.
Date: 10/5/2004 4:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 23075    exactly what Becky said.
Date: 10/5/2004 4:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 52155    ^^yep, what she said.
Date: 10/5/2004 4:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    It is a good thought! and would probably work if people would keep it to questions such as 'someone describe the circulatory system' LOL But the odds of people not asking diagnosis questions isn't that great....I know some people already do them....but I don't think that they need to be encouraged further with a health section
Date: 10/5/2004 4:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 48812    i see where becky's coming from, and i see where you're coming from, but what if it was a section like Serious Advice and Dream Interpretation and such, where only certain people can reply? That way, whoever is a certified nurse or doctor, would be able to answer, and it'd be reliable, too. *shrugs* Just an idea....
Date: 10/5/2004 4:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 23075    Uber it would and could be difficult to diagnose though and not seeing the person they could get a wrong diagnosis....just my opinion
Date: 10/5/2004 4:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 23075    oops sorry bout the double post...I'm having problems with my mouse.
Date: 10/5/2004 4:44:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42522    its all good.
Date: 10/5/2004 4:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 48812    well, in a way, the health section would be the same as the advice section, right? there could be a disclaimer or something, saying that nothing is really definite, and they should still see a physician.
Date: 10/5/2004 5:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 61977    I see both sides of this coin...really. After thinking about it I honestly do not think its a bad idea, you would have to state that advice given in this section should replace the opinion of a doctor you know the whole shebang....
Date: 10/5/2004 5:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 61977    NOT replace...LOL....need a disclaimer..talk about typos...LOL.....
Date: 10/5/2004 6:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 62146    Good idea barbie I like it alot
Date: 10/5/2004 6:25:00 PM  ( Admin-DNL )   What Becky said could be a problem, but besides that its a good idea.
Date: 10/5/2004 7:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 47218    agree with Becky-- it could cause problems. We don't want to encourage people giving or receiving non-professional medical advice in situations where they should be talking to a doctor...or at least someone in the medical field.
Date: 10/5/2004 7:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 12341    I'm a nurse and I have to agree with Becky and everyone else. I always worry about the health posts. Diagnosing someone with a serious illness online is something that could lead to serious problems. Most often, only a Doctor should and could treat or give a diagnosis or prognosis based on examination of a patient or further tests. I always hesitate to offer or give medical advice just because of this reason.
