I think...potentially it could cause problems...some might rely on the diagnosis of untrained professionals, which obviously wouldn't be a good thing. |

It is a good thought! and would probably work if people would keep it to questions such as 'someone describe the circulatory system' LOL But the odds of people not asking diagnosis questions isn't that great....I know some people already do them....but I don't think that they need to be encouraged further with a health section |

i see where becky's coming from, and i see where you're coming from, but what if it was a section like Serious Advice and Dream Interpretation and such, where only certain people can reply? That way, whoever is a certified nurse or doctor, would be able to answer, and it'd be reliable, too. *shrugs* Just an idea.... |

Uber it would and could be difficult to diagnose though and not seeing the person they could get a wrong diagnosis....just my opinion |

well, in a way, the health section would be the same as the advice section, right? there could be a disclaimer or something, saying that nothing is really definite, and they should still see a physician. |

I see both sides of this coin...really. After thinking about it I honestly do not think its a bad idea, you would have to state that advice given in this section should replace the opinion of a doctor you know the whole shebang.... |

agree with Becky-- it could cause problems. We don't want to encourage people giving or receiving non-professional medical advice in situations where they should be talking to a doctor...or at least someone in the medical field. |

I'm a nurse and I have to agree with Becky and everyone else. I always worry about the health posts. Diagnosing someone with a serious illness online is something that could lead to serious problems. Most often, only a Doctor should and could treat or give a diagnosis or prognosis based on examination of a patient or further tests. I always hesitate to offer or give medical advice just because of this reason. |
