My husband is in the Air Force and just changed offices. The office he went to is really busy and he is the only Java (computer programmers code) expert in the office so he can't take time off.

I think i am losing my mind. Katie is sick (we think she has strep throat, we are waiting for lab results to come back). Every 2 or 3 hours her temp spikes to 104 or higher, Tylenol is starting to not work and the doc highly suggested not giving her motrin because of the effects in can have on babies internal organs. Last night, I was up with her every 30 minutes.

This morning we were laying on the couch and we both fell asleep. I woke up to the overwhelming smell of poop. I looked down and Katie was sitting next to the couch, each hand covered in poop, and it was all over her, from head to toe. She still had her diaper on but had been sticking her hands down her pants.

I immediately started throwing up. Since i became pregnant i have had very little tolerance for smells and stuff like that. I ran to the kitchen sink, because it was closer than the bathroom, and threw up all over the dogs, sink, counter, floor and clean dishes. As soon as i thought i was done i went to clean up katie. As soon as i started to clean her up i started to gag and ran to the bathroom only to throw up everywhere but the toilet.

I know this is TMI i just need someone to relate to me... does this only happen to me???

So i end up having to clean up the entire house, Katie and myself while dry heaving. Now i have incredible heartburn and nausea from not eating. Katie has finally gone to sleep on the couch. I have to be super quiet, and i dont dare go to sleep again, but its better than her not sleeping at all.

I'm am so sorry if this grosses you all out... i just needed someone to talk to that knows what i am going through.. none of my friends have kids so they dont know and all they can say is Awwww.

HELP!! I don't know how to deal with this and stay sane!

I know my friend and I always say that if someone told us 10 years ago that we would have to help another human get boogers out of their nose...I'd have called 'em crazy...Us Mommies have to deal with all the gross bodily functions...LOL! Hang in there! HipChik
Date: 10/5/2004 11:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 48809    It is too bad that you are so easily grossed out because anyone who has had children can tell you that this might happen again.I know some people are much more sensitive to these things than others are. I can assure you that you are not the only one this has happened to as any mother can tell you... most of us who have or have had little ones have at some time or other been up to our elbows in this! ugh! No body likes it , but it is just another one of the joys of being a mother!lol.I know it is very upsetting, but little ones are curious and do not do this to upset us though. I hope your little girl will soon be well.
Date: 10/5/2004 11:52:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62401    i normally can handle that stuff, but now that i am pregnant i get nauseous easy. this isnt the first time, and i dont expect it to be he last, i just needed to vent and be reassured that i can handle this.
Date: 10/5/2004 12:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 24319    Although I don't have kids, I can relate. I had my nephew so much it was like he was my child. I never got sick while cleaning his "messes" up. But, there were times where I wondered how a small child could crap so much. And of course your going to get through it. The getting sick and stuff isn't gonna last forever. It's just one of those days. Keep your chin up
Date: 10/5/2004 12:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 4144    i've had those days too! they suck huh?! you're not the only one it happens to! you should really keep crackers and sprite in the house at all times! i was never sick while pregnant but my friend was from day one and i had to make jello every day so she wouldn't starve! that was my nine months of hell!
Date: 10/5/2004 12:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 26363    Oh yes! I have been in the pooh up to my neck too! LOL It is stressful when they are sick and especially if neither of you are getting proper sleep. All I can say is hang in there, it will soon pass. I hope your wee one is feeling better soon.
Date: 10/5/2004 2:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 15228    Sounds like you've had quiet a day! I can relate, I was that sick when I was pregnant with my first one. Everything made me either puke or gag up until about 6 months..were you that sick with Katie? I was lucky because I wasn't sick at all with the second one.
Date: 10/5/2004 2:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 62901    I know exactly what you mean!!! My son got sick with the flu when he was only 6mo. old, and they put him on antibiotics...those antibiotics gave him such bad diarhia, that it would go all the way up his back. A few times a day for a week or two, I would have to change him over and over getting poop all over the place, and all over me. I was lucky when I was pregnant though.... I never got sick, ever. But, I still really couldn't handle strong smells... so I would've probably thrown up if I had to do what you did. Stay strong! That's what mother's do best!! lol ~Rachel~
Date: 10/6/2004 3:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 58308    Yes. I have had many of these days with my two and the little bro and sis I raised. Not a fun job but worth it all when they are well and giving you much joy. Hang in there! Sending many "well wishes" to the little one and "strength" to you. *smiles*
