This theater and opera house, established in 1883, is haunted by a former stage manager, Percy Keene, who died in 1965, and his ephemeral likeness returns to look after young actors in the building. Members of the Drama Lab theater group encountered his ghost many times in 1970s. Other ghosts might also haunt the premises. The shadowy figure of a man in nineteenth-century clothing, carrying a playbill for the 1895 production of "The Bohemian Girl", was spotted in the dressing-room corridor. In 1985, a ghostly nightwatchman was seen peering out a side-street window.HAUNTED PLACES,pp.455-456.
