*~* Please Put Your Name in the Title and Please Don't Be So Vague! *~* Hey,Hey,Paula

Many fellow USMers have taken on the habit of putting their name in the title which helps immensly for various reasons. Personally, I wish all would follow suit.

Recently, my life has been one of hurry-scurry, helping my daughter move, getting her set up in her new place, cleaning, making curtains, etc., etc. Along with that I am working extra hours at the Family History Center for an ailing volunteer and a vacationing one. Add to that my health issues and I am exhausted and then insomnia sets in... So, in a nut shell, my time here is short and sweet. It's not as long as I would like it to be and I am unfortunately not able to read and reply to as many posts as I would like.

When I swoop in to spend a minute or two I scan the titles to see if anyone I know needs prayers, a hug or a birthday wish or anything I can do with sincerity and short time. When titles are vague and nameless it is frustrating to need to take the time to open them, read the post, click on the ID number to find out who it is from and then decide rather to reply or not.

Please don't get me wrong. I care about all of our USM family. But, sometimes there are some who need extra attention for various reasons. Most of the seasoned members do sign their name in the title, while others prefer not to. That is everyone's choice. I am just stating that from my stand point, it sure helps me to make the best of my short time on days like today.

Tonight I was in Walmart (my second home lately) and as I was walking back from the farthest corner of the store with my cup hooks in tow and other things I had on my list, over the loud speaker came my theme song, "Hey,Hey,Paula". I had not heard it in AGES! I just listened with a smile on my face as I took a moment to remember my USM family and how I missed them. Then, my thoughts were interupted by a clerk's call for a manager to register one... Poof! goes that moment, just like my life lately.

So, please, if you wouldn't mind, please consider including your name in the title and making your title relevant and not so vague. I know that I am not alone in this feeling.

May God bless you all ;)

Love, {{{HUGS}}} and Butterfly Kisses,

Hey,Hey,Paula

Date: 10/4/2004 11:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 36704    I don't include my name in the title because I don't want people to read it or not read it just because it's mine, but rather because they find the topic interesting and I think it gives people who are less known a better shot at also having their posts read, rather than people just flocking to their friends posts.
Date: 10/4/2004 11:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 24732    I think I used to get more replies and page views when I left my name out of the title.
Date: 10/5/2004 2:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 35160    yes, please. i try to read every post whether it has someones name on it or not. but it does help if they put their names on it..

Date: 10/5/2004 4:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 23796    I personally go by title, not so much by name. That way I'm not picking and chosing who deserves what attetion. I'm spreading the attention to everyone, not leaving anyone out.
Date: 10/5/2004 8:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 53427    I think Base has a point.. I sometimes put my name in the title especially if I'm posting in USM events or something of that nature. But usually if its just a general post, I leave it out.
Date: 10/5/2004 9:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 13729    I usually put my name on my posts, but dont really think it is a neccesity......I think what would be better would be to have posts submitted to the admins and have them filter what can be posted and what cannot, but I know the admins are busy with their own lives, and do this for free, and I appreciate that...I love USM and of course I feel they should run it any way they want, but I dont come around as often because of the 50 top postings everyday, 50 percent of them are things people didnt even write on there own, i.e.: A movie review from someone who didnt even see the movie, they just copied a review off of Yahoo! or qoutes from people that are five words long, to me, that is just ridiculous......
Date: 10/5/2004 11:10:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53961    <scarfing down a Healthy Choice dinner as I read posts and replies before the nap I MUST get in today> I understand and appreciate what you all are saying. I do value your opinions. I am just saying this is my point of view and to each his own. When titles are such as, "Guess what!" or the like, I tend to scan on by. But, when it's more clear like, "I'm going to have a baby!", then I am more apt to stop and read. As with many of us, my times is so limited I have to pick and choose. Otherwise, other things would get neglected. So, in a nutshell, Clarity works best for me - Hey,Hey,Paula - Thanks for your replies all!
Date: 10/5/2004 11:15:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53961    And, for the name thing, the more I see your name the better I remember it. If it's not out in the open, often, like in the title, I don't get familiar with as many of you as I'd like! If you want to get known, label it! You'll get noticed. Hope that makes sense! Thanks!
Date: 10/5/2004 11:16:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53961    Oh, and the numbers thing, we need to remember that MANY people who visit USM are NOT members so they can't reply, even if they wanted to, which is a bummer for them and us.
Date: 10/5/2004 4:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    I don't put my name in my title, I guess it's because I feel that all are welcome to reply. Even those that disagree with me and I don't want them to assume they're not welcome just because we've disagreed in the past.
