"Here and There" - Holly

[A/N: I'm not homesick, I swear! Okay, maybe I am a little. But I love the city so much. Read, enjoy, and be positively brutal. Holly]

City lights and airplanes,
The summer’s done and gone.
A window seat observer
And an essay left undone.

Take me home, I whisper
To the cars down below.
I want to breathe that Georgian air
And feel that fall breeze blow

Humid as the temp’ture cools,
And night makes way for us fools.

High school games and sister-talks,
We’d run barefoot in the grass.
Dirt roads, streets and sidewalks,
And country cricket brass.

Here the tires sing so deep;
They’re rumbling instruments.
Train bells ring, curtains sweep-
The skyscraper’s accompaniments.

City, play your grand fanfare.
Tear me up, leave me bare

Window watcher between two worlds,
Torn by home’s abstraction,
Gently fall between the furls
Of here and there’s cruel faction.

Date: 9/25/2004 8:21:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 10030    Perhaps I ought to close my window-- it's what started all the trouble. I glanced outside and -boom- a story pops to mind. So I wrote it down. I keeping thinking in mymind, "I love this place!" But I love that place, too... Thank you for your words.
