wow you're really looking forward to the college life arent you ehh..its not that great believe me, your professors dont accept any delays on your work, they dont care if you were run over by a truck the night before as long as you submit your project in time *yes theyre THAT harsh :P* andddddd..since you're responsibile for your own timings in college..sometimes things can seriously get mixed up!! *how does school sound now??* LOL wow i feel like the queen of pessimism at the moment..hehehehe..no but seriously, i am so hating my professors at uni right now so dont listen to what im saying @_@ ok..soo..yeah. |

I had a really rough year last year, but I've transfered schools, and I absolutely love it here!! Like Absz said, they don't care what happened as long as your work is in (actually somewhat depends on the prof), and sometimes it's verrrrrrrry stressful to where you just want to die. However, there is so many more positive things ahout college, that the negative is worth it. I'm having the time of my life, even with papers due, homework every night...you just need to learn time management. It's an awesome experience if you're in the right place, ie, where you feel comfortable. ~Becky |

After taking time off for my son, I'm going back to college in January. Can't wait! College is very different from high school. I don't really get to choose the classes and times though, because my music classes are all at set times. As for true friends in college, it is true. Though my best friend has been my best friend since elementary school, I have some very close friends that I have met in college. |

Well this is my fourth week in college and working ( work-study). I'm already begeinning to feel the pressures of work; I've had a test every day this week and I have three papers due back to back starting this Friday. But putting aside the obscene amount of hw, tests, and papers,I think college life is great. When I went home for one weekend, I found myself wanting to come back here...heh...I call my dorm "home" now too. It was a little difficult at first, but I'm getting used to being away from family and friends. As for highschool, I thought it was 'eh', not that much of a big deal. Funny, while I'm here having a good ol' time, I hear that all the people in highschool who slacked off and had way to much fun are loathing college with every strand of their body. Oh well, I guess college is not for everyone. |

Hey, I just started college too, I love it. My classes start at nine am, I will have to change that next semester, definately... I'm not a morning person. How far away from your home are you Carina? (I'm about five to six hours) |

in my experience, what Absz said isn't completely true. They generally have to be strict about deadlines, because if they are bending over for left and right then pretty soon almost nobody's turning anything in on time (I've been told by professors that this was their experience the first time around). But most professors are reasonable humans-- if you have a reasonable concern and just take the initiative to speak to them about it, they're willing to work with you. And, of course, a doctor's excuse will get you an extension on anything. One thing that is true is that there is no hand-holding in college. Unlike your high school teachers who are in the position of having to get unmotivated students to work, nobody's going to needle you to write your papers, or study for tests. If you don't do your homework and you fail-- oh well, that's your problem. As it should be! That's how the world is-- if you don't do a report for your job, your boss isn't going to say, "now then, what do I have to do to get you to do this report? Do I have to have a conference with your parents?" no, they're just going to fire you. As for the rest of my experience, I have to say it was pretty good overall. The learning part is fun-- you get to stick mainly to subjects that interest you, you get to meet lots of new people, and best of all you don't have to put up with all the social pressure crud that you did in high school-- having to worry about being popular or wearing the right clothes. You find a group of people that you have things in common with, and people no longer concern themselves with people outside their group of friends. It's a more pleasant, less angst-ridden experience than high school. |

I go to a small college, So I got tons of flexable profesors, Also, i know everyone, small colleges are great for some people, but not everyone, if you want your profesors to know you. i suggest a small college. |

Yep, I do feel the same way you do. I thought high school was nothing special, and when I went to college afterwards, it was a totally different experience that I loved 10000 times more! It was really cool to shed all the stereotypes and immaturity of high school and be around people of all backgrounds and philosophies. College has been the best years of my life so far! |
