i think the only reason your mom asked you where you were when you answered your cell was because you didnt answer your home phone when it rang so she assumed you weren't home. Sucks to have a nice nap interrupted tho doesn't it? |

You would think that would be the only reason but that's the first thing she always says. not just her though. i'm talking about everybody. my husband always asks that when he calls me but he just does it because he knows it bugs me! he does it when he calls home too! but that's him being a butthead! i do the same thing to him. but it seems ieven if you don't say where you are when they ask and try to get to the point of the call they still want to know where you are at. it just seems nosey to me. |

Well she is your mom...it isnt like some perfect stranger asking you that. I usually ask my sisters or friends where they are when I call their cell cause sometimes they may be in a movie theater or driving and I dont want to interrupt them. They also could be at home and if so then I would rather call on their home phone so I dont waste their minutes. I do not have a cell phone so I dont know if it would bug me or not but I dont really think it is to big of a deal personally. It is just like being asked what are you doign when someone calls you |

I'm guilty of doing that as well, my daughters have cell phones and if I cant reach them at home, I try their cell phone and of course I ask where they are as if they WERE home, logic says they would answer their phone. I understand you need to keep the phone line handy in case of emergency, but I think for the nap I would have shut it off, left a voice message on it saying you were napping and if its a real emergency for that short of time to have someone come wake ya up. LOL |

i am guilty of that as well LOL i call people and ask where they are only so i know i am not interupting them. if i need "me time" (which is often. LOL) i just turn my phone off and get the messages when i am ready to return the calls. |

yes kiki 8 phones! and it's left up to me to deal with them. as you can probably tell i hate phones of all kinds! so, it looks like it's just me that it bugs when someone asks where i am!! i usually just say the same thing i say when i call someones home.....what's up? that way they can tell me where they are if they want me to know. i have a friend that hates to be asked where she is so much that when you call her cel and ask her she says i'm not home right now. if they keep asking she finally says it's really nobody's business where i am!! i love that! but with her she didn't want anybody to know where she was because he was married and not to her! (can we say "idiot?!) most of the time i don't want to say where i am because it will usually involve dropping whatever i have to do just to do something for somebody else. i know that sounds selfish but it gets old when it's an everyday thing. since i am pretty much alone at work i have people wanting me to drop what i'm doing at work to do something. good thing the boss don't hang around huh?! |
