We Made It Through The Storm....................MsPriss and Two Spirit

Well everyone, we are still here. After 66 hours without electricity, we are finally able to get the word out to friends. Fortunately, we have no damage to our home, although we won't have to worry about falling limbs for a while. We didn't lose any trees in our yard, although we still have quite a few limbs to pick up.

For almost three days, we have been using a generator to supply basic power needs. We did have hot water and the stove, thanks to using propane for heating, hot water, and cooking.

MsPriss has been very upbeat the last few days, taking most everything with a bit of humor. Myself on the other hand, developed a bad case of cabin fever very quick.

We did ride around after the storm, and there are a lot of trees down, as well as limbs everywhere. The further south you go, the worse it gets. In our general area, over half the homes that lost electricity now have their lights back, alhough it will be two weeks before some once again have power. Those on the coast though did not fare well at all. It will be at least a week before some can return home, and others will have no home to return to. In some places, the beachfront has moved inland beyond what was once the coast road.

We do thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers and thoughts. It is times like these when one realizes just how much of a family USM really is.

Date: 9/18/2004 11:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 998    It is so good to hear that you both pulled through the worst that your area had been hit with. To know that the trees had no leaves, and your yard looked like it had no grass, but just a landscape of leaves and branches. We were certainly praying for everyone that is in the path of all these storms.

Date: 9/19/2004 8:38:00 AM  From Authorid: 53900    You know with both Charley and Frances we were told it would be between 1-3 weeks before we got our power back. I would say there is a good chance if the damage is not to bad you will be back in power before you know it. I am glad you didnt get to much damage...with both hurricanes we suffered minor damage to the house and lots and lots of trees down
Date: 9/19/2004 8:54:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47296    During the height of the storm, both MsPriss and mayself, being are ususal crazy selfs, were both out in it either watching the trees sway, or moving our trailer, or checking on the generator. It is amazing though the things you will do to entertain yourself for three days. I used one of our window frames to rig an antenna for one television so MsPriss could see watch the news (we lost cable before we lost power), and I had out little handheld television. She would sit for hours playing poker on her cell phone, and I got out an old B-29 model we had laying around the house and built the whole thing in detail while we were waiting on power.
Date: 9/19/2004 9:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 3263    I'm so glad that you two are ok, and that there's nothing really wrong with your house.
Date: 9/19/2004 9:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 18527    Awww I know how that was, when we had the tornado here in 2001, we went without electricity for 6 days, only everything was electric! So we had cold showers and no coffee! AhhhH!
Date: 9/19/2004 9:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 29532    I am so glad you guys made it ok. Good to hear from you.
Date: 9/19/2004 9:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 61977    I am so very glad to hear it. Priss and I were chatting on-line and all of a sudden she was gone....I am so thankful to Our Higher Powers that you are alright as well as your home. (-:
Date: 9/19/2004 10:13:00 AM  From Authorid: 7574    I'm glad that everyone's okay...I live in Virginia and we had soo many tornadoes on Friday, practically the whole viewing area of the TV had tornado warnings for most the afternoon. It was pretty scary. We had Isabel last year and didn't have power for a day, but some of my friends didn't have any for weeks. I don't understand how y'all can deal with them all the time...lol...
Date: 9/19/2004 12:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 56489    Thank god you made it through!
Date: 9/19/2004 12:28:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47296    MsPriss and I do have one silver lining to the cloud that passed through. We do our biggest antique show of the year in Biloxi in three weeks, and we were concerned that Ivan would mean it being cancelled. Fortunatley, Biloxi was spared major damage, so we will still be going there. The show may not be as big as we hoped, since a lot of customers do come over from the damaged areas, but at least it will allow us a chance to get back to our normal routine.
Date: 9/19/2004 3:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 37038    good to hear you are safe and well!!
