When my HP did that to me, there was NO getting out of it... there probably was some sort of message at one point telling you why it went into safe mode, it was on mine.. .. I ended up having to reformat and lost everything on my computer. Then I just bought me a new Dell and gave the other reformatted version to Amanda! |

I will presume for this that itis a windows 98 machine, but this does work on XP too. When your PC starts up yuou should get a screen that either advertises the maker of the machine, or telles you what disks are in the thing. At this point start pressing the F8 key repeatedly. Eventually you shouldget a screen that says something along the lines of "how would youlike to start your machine" listing START NORMALLY, START IN SAFE MODE etc. use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move the selection to START WINDOWS NORMALLY and then press enter. Windows should then boot into windows normally. It is a bit strange though that your colours have gone mad without your PC telling you that it is in safe mode. You could also try this, Click on START then go to settings, control panel and then DISPLAY. In that window click in SETTINGS (top right) and look at the settings in there. Try clicking on the colour settings (Which are probably set to 16 or 256). If you dont have any other options then you are either in safe mode or your graphics card driver has been removed. If you can get into windows normal mode and the colours are still the same then try reloading your graphics card driver (if you know which make you have). If you have any further issues then get back to me. Good Luck |
