My sister told me about a place in Kettering Ohio called Patterson's Tower, or what the locals called "Frankenstein's Castle". At that time I did not believe in hautings, but she insisted that we go there. I agreed and so we drove to kettering. We drove into the park and passed the giant statue of Henry Patterson (The founder of kettering), which was a huge man on a horse elevated on a platform standing about 40 feet high. We approached the tower a few miles down the road and got out of the car. It was an octigonal shaped tower, sort of like the kind you'd find at the end of a castle wall. As to what it was doing there, I don't know. Why would anyone build something like that in the middle of nowhere. We climbed up the hill it rested on and looked up at it. I'd say it was a good 200 feet tall. The entrance to the tower was concreted over so no one could enter, and all three of it's windows were barred. We walked around it for a while. I told my sister that there was nothing unusual here, it was all stupid. But I didn't want to leave. I couldn't leave. Then, as I was staring into the lowest window which was about five feet higher than my position, I saw the pitch black interior of the castle illuminate. It wasn't my eyes adjusting to the darkness inside, the interior literally lit up and I could see inside clearly. Not taking my eyes off the tower, I said to my sister, "do you see that?" After a pause she said "yeah". Her voice was shaking, but we couldn't leave.I walked around to the back of the tower and looked in the second highest window, and it was bright as it had been on the other side. Almost as if someone had flipped on a flourescent light. I looked up through the barred windows, and suddenly the image of a face appeared in the stone wall inside the middle window. Almost as if it had been burned onto the stone. It looked terrified. "Someone died here" I whispered. I looked at the ground around the tower and saw that there was no grass for exatly on foot around the radius of the tower. "Lightning" I whispered. At this point I was terrified. My sister said softly "Everyone who goes in sees something different" I walked around to the last side of the tower and looked at the third window. I looked at my sister. "No," I said. "This window is wrong, it's too low, you'd never see it on the way up..what's in there?" She didn't answer my question. We moved around to the first side. Then she looked at me and said: "When I first came here, the first window was on the front of the tower." Shaking I said, "What's in there?: She didn't really answer me but said, "You can only go in three times. Your third time is the worst." "What's in there?" I repeated. She didn't answer, so I climed up to the low window and looked in. I could see the wall in front of me, I looked up and could see ceiling, then I looked down. Where there should have been stairs, there was nothing. No floor, nothing. It was a void. "Come here," I said to my sister. She climbed up the wall and looked in. "What do you see?" I asked. "What do you mean?" She said. "Are there stairs?" "Yeah, they're right there." I must have been seeing things, so I climbed down and picked up a rock. Then I climbed back up the wall and dropped the rock in. I waited. And waited. And waited. The rock never hit. So I got another one. I climbed up the wall and dropped it in. The same thing happened. "Let me try," My sister said. She got a rock, dropped it in, and I heard it clunk against the stone stairs. Yet I looked in and still there were no stairs. I dropped another rock and the same thing happened. "How many times have you been in?" I asked her. "Two," She replied. An image suddenly popped into my head, it was me standing on the steps inside the tower. I shook my head. I hadn't gone in. That was impossible. "Evil lives here," I said. "I can't go in there." We walked down a hill behind the tower, a ways down there was an archway. A wooden arch but it went nowhere. There was no trail on the other side, no path, just an archway to nowhere. "This has been here for over ten years. Ever since I first went in, and before that." "Why?" I asked her. "I don't know, but don't go through the arch," She warned. "Don't you ever go through." I glanced at the ground and jumped back. The ground was undisturbed. No human foot had touched here. No one had passed through the arch. Suddenly another image passed through my mind. It was a girl. She was young, maybe 16. Her arms and legs were shackled. She was thrown up against a wall. She begged for mercy but there was none. "You're mine now," A dark voice rumbled. "All mine." I looked at my sister. "Tell me what this is." I demanded. "Tell me." She lead me back up to the tower. "When I went in the second time," She said. "The walls were glowing. Illuminated." I never passed that third window. "What happened?" I asked again. "I remember." She said softly. "Remember?" "Yeah," She said. "I went in a third time. With my boyfriend. I climbed in the lowest window. We had to climb up on a barrel. I got inside. I should have landed on the stairs, but I landed on the floor..in front of the entrance door. The one that's blocked off. I walked up to the top and sat down. We sat up there and smoked for a while, then we walked back down to the lowest window. I stood on the stairs, and climbed out. Not the floor, the stairs. But I landed on the floor when I went in." I looked at the low window, there was no way she could have come in at an angle. "What is this?" I demanded again. "Do you believe in hell Daniel?" She asked me. "Of course I believe in hell," I snapped. "What do you think hell is?" She asked me. "The bible says it's a lake of fire." I replied. "I think they translated it wrong," She said. "I think it's a place of complete darkness. I place where you can't see, can't hear, and can't feel. A place where you'll never see another human face, and you'll wander for all eternity in complete darkness. You'll want to cry but you won't be able to." I thought back to what I had seen. Darkness instead of stairs. The face staring back at me from inside. "I need a camera," She said. "If I stick my hand in the window and take a picture, I'll see myself standing on those stairs. You see, I never came out. When that tower shifted it kept a part of me, and now I'm trapped in there. I'm still in there at 16 years old, standing on those stairs." I remembered the mental image I'd had of myself standing on those stairs. But I hadn't gone in there. No, I hadn't. I was sure of that. "I have to go in there," I said. "Somethings..somethings wro-" Then something came over me. "We have to go. We have to get out of here." The next thing I knew we were in the car driving up to the statue of William Henry Patterson. We got out and stared at the statue from behind, it's eyes glared down at us. I walked around front, and it's eyes had moved again. It was staring straight at me. We got in the car and drove off. "I won't go back there," I told her. "Never." "You'll go back," She said to me...not as if she was going to force me, but more matter of factly. "You'll go back."
