The over the counter herb, Mellatonin, is excellent to help regulate sleeping patterns. For some reason, this herb interacts with the body to regulate sleep, it somehow detects when it is time for bed as the body unwinds from the day... and it somehow recognizes that it is time to be awake by the brain activity and outside stimulus of the daily world. Melletonin, you can get it at a health food store, and even in places like Walmart. The quality of the Mellatonin is better from a health food store, it is more pure, but will cost a little bit more. It takes about 2 weeks for Mellatonin to begin being felt by you, that it is indeed working, but I know of many that I have suggested this herb to, and I have heard from them that it not only works well, but they are not tired during the day, and they sleep so good during the night and wake up feeling really good. My oldest Son went through this..He would stay awake all night and sleep literally all day..Wake up around 9:00pm. Well gradually he started going to bed a little earlier and getting up a little earlier..until he got himself back onto a normal sleeping schedule. He now goes to bed around 10:00pm and gets up around 8:00am..MUCH better. For him it was more an interaction thing. At night he didnt have to talk to anyone..or deal with other people. He has social anxiety disorder. |

I just read about a study... it gave the participants permission to just sleep whenever they felt tired. Most took several naps a day, but never needed more than 3 or 4 hours of sleep per day. Don't know if it helps at all, but I thought it was interesting. |

I have always had trouble sleeping too and hated going to bed at night because I couldn't stay asleep. I was awake almost every hour. I finally found something that really works great for me ..with no after effects. This is something that is sold over the counter and so I assume it is ok to use it... but I suggest that you ask your Doctor first... we are all different and what works for me may not work for you. I go to the Dollar General store and buy some Melatonin tablets --3 mg. size which is $2.00 here where I live and they are found in the Vitamin section. Then you go to where they have aspirin and other pain relievers. You are looking for Extra Strength Pain Relief PM pain reliever and sleep aid.Be sure the yellow and blue package it comes in notes the ingredients on the front of the box... which are Acetaminophen ( a pain reliever) and Diphenhydramine HCI ( a sleep aid) . There are 50 bright blue capsules in the box. This will cost you another $2.00 You will take one of each of these and you should get a really good nights sleep... sometimes I will sleep the whole night long! Be smart and ask your Dr. about this first and don't load up on them . I take one of each one every night and it works for me. Please let me know how it works for you, will you? |

So basically, you've changed your sleep pattern. That is a bad thing. It's difficult to be active in the world if you're only awake at night. So you need to drastically change your sleep pattern. Stay up all day, then go to bed at night. Retrain your body and mind as to when you are supposed to sleep. That will not be easy. |

Hello Emma This sounds so familiar. I have the worst sleeping habits. I work twelve hour shifts (6:00 to 6:00 Am to Pm and vice versa) About the time I recover from nights, days comes around. What a mess. Thinks that help me: Find somewhere QUIET to sleep, no interruptions, no telephones and as little light as possible. Good luck to you, lady.. |

If I talk on the phone or if I am on the computer an hour before bed it will take me forever to sleep. Caffiene also affects my sleep really bad. I find the afternoon sun to be the most relaxing to sleep in. I get the most calming peaceful sleep. It's the best sleep in the world. If I could get away with sleeping only in the afternoons I would probably be the same way. |
