Do you mean mentally or physically? When we're shocked and/or upset to an extreme degree, some people will shut down emotionally as a way of coping with what has happened. It's a way that the mind can find immediate peace, so it blocks everything out as a kind of survival coping mechanism, and it feels like numbness... most of the time it's temporary and the result of a shock or something very upsetting, but it can also happen as a result of depression or many other things.... if you don't feel better soon you should see a doctor so you can talk about this with someone who can help. *bighugs* - Kokoro |

Well, it can be called disassociation. It's when you completely pull out all feeling from the body. You feel emotionally, physically and mentally numb. Some people get this when they are depressed. The weird part of it, is that it doesn't feel like all these feelings are gone but just bottled up in one part of you and it feels like your insides are gonna flood with emotion, but you can't seem to release it and I think that's why some people turn to cutting. It happens when we become overloaded with emotions and stress over being upset. |

Sorry I'm feeling nostolgic looking over my past posts (a long over-due post indeed), but yes that issue was quickly resolved and I feel much better now. But it is amazing how vividly I remember that moment. |
