Okay last year, I had to attend court SEVERAL times to obtain an order of protection against an ex of mine (psycho guy), anyhow....While I was there between the long hours of waiting for my case to be called on, I got to hear other people's stories and reasons for being there. There was one lady there, that had to have had the worst case of all that I heard while going to court there. She was even in disguise (scarf, sunglasses, maybe even a wig....) her ex who you could just tell was a major *bleep, bleep* from just looking at him and the unapologetic, smug look on his face was there as well (I wanted to punch him), but anyhow....
This guy (which was her ex husband) used to beat and abuse her while married, so ofcourse she left him and divorced. But after that, he broke into her garage one day and was waiting for her there. She said he was dressed in women's clothing as a disguise. He gagged her with a rag soaked in something to make her docile. He beat her and handcuffed her, then threw her in his trunk. He then drove her to some place far away. He locked her up in the basement. While there he raped her, beat her and did horrible things to her. She would beg to use the bathroom, but instead he forced her to go in a bucket he provided for her, just humiliated her.
All the while telling her story, this poor woman was crying and bawling. The case had to be paused and resumed at least twice because she was crying and sobbing so much, even though she was really trying not to. She obviously wanted her case to be heard so she could obtain the Order of Protection from this monster. And all the while, the idiot (her ex ofcourse) was just snickering and smiling like he was just the coolest thing, the psycho......
Anyhow, I think she was only there two days (only two days, but it was two days of hell and torture) he also let her know he was going to kill her soon and how, so she knew she had to get out SOON. She said when he finally left her to pass out and sleep, she was praying fervently to God. She mentioned she wasn't at all religious at the time, but that's the only thing she thought and could do at the time. She prayed and prayed, prayed really hard. She said as SOON as she was done praying, one of her handcuffs became loosened, so she got one hand completely freed. So she struggled and struggled to also free her feet. She said she climbed out of a bathroom window because everything else was locked. She said she prayed and prayed all the while that he didn't wake and catch her, she was horrified. She finally made it to a road and flagged down a car, who she said the driver looked at her horrified since she was all bloody, bruised, partially naked and just a plain mess.....
Second story: There was another woman there who's story also stuck out to me.....She was a young looking, attractive, African-American woman. She explained how her and the defendant had been lovers and in a relationship, the defendant was also a female. She said they had been together for quite some time (I can't recall how long 1 or 2 yrs.....?). She explained the rocky and crazy type of life they led, she said she was unhappy and began searching for more.....
One day she met and discovered Jesus, she began attending services and discovered there IS in fact more to this life, that it doesn't have to be a certain way, it could be more, MUCH more. She began feeling uncomfortable doing what she was fine and accustomed in doing prior, the partying, leading a crazy life and having relations with another woman. So one day, she relied this to her partner and eventually left. Her lover didn't take it too well, not well at all. She said she became violent.
Then one day, her (the lover) showed up at the other woman's home with about 4 men (part of their/a gang) they had a gun(s). The other woman was at work, but her 12yr.old (something like that) was at home at the time, they barged in the house, they threatened and harrassed him. They told him to say good bye to his mom because she was going to get hers soon. So a report was made etc. and that's how she ended up in court. But what struck me was that this woman seemed unafraid and confident, she said she didn't care what the other woman threatened or did, she was still determined to do right and never look back because it was THAT worth it...... How it changed my life:It inspired and encouraged me. Life is FILLED with stories like these, I could write a book from just mine alone......
