Terrible way to wake up ...HipChik

One morning at 4:30am we were awaken by our smoke detectors, which is an awful way to get woken up, btw.

Anyway, once we jumped up we realized that the alarm clock was ringing, too, we just couldn't hear it at first over the smoke detectors.

My husband reached out to turn off the alarm clock (at least that would be one less noisy thing), and BOTH the smoke detectors and the alarm clock shut off.

We were dumbfounded! They have nothing to do with each other, except for both using electric. WHAT THE HECK!!!

Someone later said that maybe your electricity went out, and caused a strange surge that caused them both to come on, but the electricity did not go off, because nothing needed resetting.

BTW, the alarm clock was not set at all for that morning, because we were on vacation that next day and sleeping in.

Anyone have anything like this before??? It had me a little creeped out.

I even had the thought that my father-in-law (who passed away a few months ago) was saving us from someone breaking in??? I don't know....it had never happened before.

Date: 9/2/2004 5:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 3835    It was spiritual intervention that brought protection for something either from the natural or super natural realm.. if it were me, I would take it as a sign that something protected the inside of the home from something on the outside trying to get in.. but I sense spiritual activities that coincide with this.. I would have to look up and say "thanks!! ".. (-:
Date: 9/2/2004 6:16:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62876    Sur5r, that is the first thing that crossed my mind. We live in the country, and it is pretty safe, but anything could happen. What could it be from the supernatural realm? I don't know much about that...like a bad spirit??...HipChik

Date: 9/2/2004 8:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 62401    The smoke detectors in my house go off all the time by themselves, i wont be cooking or anything. Maintenance has replaced them many times and it keeps happening.. the first time they replaced them "someone" had yanked the cord out of the ceiling completely disabling it. They still go off all the time.
Date: 9/6/2004 10:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 62793    Ya know...i wouldn't worry too much about it....either it was just a strange coincidence, someone was looking out for you, or someone/something was playing a practical joke on you. In any of those cases...you lost a little sleep and that's it....
Date: 9/8/2004 4:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 19682    That is freaky...I had an incident where a few weeks ago I was talking with my sister-in-law on the phone and we were mentioning my deceased mother, but not in a bad way.

However, the TV went on all by itself even with the Direct TV on and that was turned off. I thought my husband set the TV timer.

He checked and said no, that in no way should the TV have turned itself on.

My mother did not like my sister-in-law at all. This never happened before, nor since.

Date: 6/18/2005 6:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 63162    it may be a sign, from your father in law, that in the future something may happen dealing with a fire, or something else big, at that exact time. but you'll probally not know till it happens.
Date: 6/22/2005 5:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 62089    that's an irrational assumption. how would her dead father in law know that something was going to happen in the future at that same time of day? ghosts are souls of people that are forced to wander in the earth realm for whatever reason. they aren't like spirits that give people divination powers, and they're not God (all knowing and all powerful).
Date: 8/3/2005 11:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 11341    I once had an alarm clock go off that wasnt plugged in. Freaked me out in a big way!
