Stuff after Grandpa died.........HipChik

My husband's stepfather passed away in June of this year. He was a very moral, decent and kind person, and since my parents do not live here, and my hubby's real father does his own thing, this was my children's one 'true' grandpa.

We are the type of family that calls our family members what the kids do, so we called him grandpa, too - (like I call my hubby Daddy, most of the time).

Anyway, after he passed, one day we were over there moving stuff around because my mother-in-law was moving. Grandpa always sat in a chair next to this massive, roll-top desk, and I was walking by it minding my own business, when I heard his voice. I am not exactly sure what he said, but I heard him. I whirled around and saw my hubby and his mom talking, but I was too far away to hear them, so I know it wasn't them. It didn't hit me until later what I may have heard.

Later than evening, I was talking to my mom-in-law, and I asked her if she has seen or heard anything. She said, "All the time. He calls my name, and leaves me messages on the desk."

I asked her to elaborate about the messages, and she said since he always did all of their finances, she has had to go through all the paperwork and it has been a siege for her to find everything she needed. She would leave a bill on the table, and later it would have some little note written on it, like a money amount, or "bottom drawer".

I was intrigued to say the least, but it is hard for her to talk about, so I don't get to often, since he passed so recent. None-the-less, it was extremely comforting to me to know that he is SOMEWHERE.

How it changed my life:

hasn't really.

Date: 9/2/2004 7:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 61897    When my grandpa died a few years ago "someone" would ring the door bell to my apt. and my mom's house, but no one would be there. We would even look out the window to see if we would catch any kids or something running away after doing it, but nothing. This happened for some days right after he passed.

Date: 9/2/2004 8:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 62401    When my great grandmother died i had something happen to me... i was only about 6 or 7 but i remember it like it was yesterday. I was asleep in her house the day before the funeral and i dont know if she came to me or if it was a dream that she came to me in, but she was standing at the foot of the bed and i saw her wave to me and say "i love you." it didnt scare me, i felt more at ease than anything... it helped me understand what was happening.

Our loved ones find out that this is true after they pass on and are anxious to let us know that they are indeed still alive and well!

Date: 9/6/2004 10:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 62793    I had a similar experience myself. My mother died 2 weeks before my fourth birthday. Most people think that someone that young can't understand death, but I did. My dad told me that one day, about a week after my mother's death, I came home from my babysitter's house and was all smiles and happiness. I told him that I had seen my mommy and that she had said that she loved me, she was safe, and that someday I would see her again. Years later...I saw my babysitter again. She told me the same story....that right after my mother's death, I was very down and sad and unhappy. About a week after her death, I ran up to my babysitter and told her that I had just seen my mommy and that she had said everything would be okay. My babysitter said that after that, my emotions did a complete 180...I was sunny, happy, and cheerful.
