I'm dying. I can feel the life force coming out of me. The beam of light from our foe is sucking out every last piece of energy I have. I can't even hear my friends as they scream for me to keep fighting. They are just blurs of color, attacking the foe to try and get me away. But it seems to be too late. My body is weak, my head hurts, and I'm ready to go.
They say your life flashes before your eyes before you die, but all I see is a fast motion film of the last three weeks. So I share these images, and start at the beginning for as long as I have left. For you it may seem like a long story, but it's going by in just seconds for me. Just seconds until I leave forever.
I joined a fighting class during the summer and had made some new friends. I was one of the top fighters, and the other advanced people would hang around and just talk.
First we had Emma, with her blonde hair and ice blue eyes, who was like the big sister of the group. She wouldn't stand for anything if it hurt her friends. She was probably the best in our class, and was only a rank higher than I was. Her specialties involved weapons and hand-to-hand combat.
Then we had Collin, the goofy guy of the group. He had shaggy, blood red hair, blue eyes, and he loved making jokes all the time. He was a good fighter, but didn't take it quite as seriously as the rest of us. He was really good at keeping people from hitting him. His dodging was amazing.
Third we had Julie, who had bright blue hair and hazel eyes, the bad girl. Well, that's what Collin called her anyway. I recognized them all from school, and Julie had a reputation for being rebellious. She talked back to teachers a lot, and was usually skipping school. But despite that, she was very fun to hang out with. She was good at the type of fighting you would find on the streets.
And finally, there was me. My name is Kady, and I have long dark hair with a red tint in it, and emerald green eyes. I can do any type of fighting, since I have been taking private lessons since I was young and spent all my time practicing. My strongest points though were weapon and, believe it or not, magic in combat. But I never mentioned this to the others. At least, not until Mr. Reese Raymon came to us at the end of summer.
He told us that he was looking for an army, one that would be willing to learn magic and fight off the things most people don't believe in. The whole group just stared at him blankly. None of us were sure how to respond. I noticed, though, that they all looked kind of excited.
After a lot of arguing and debating, we all decided to do it. We all had our reasons for choosing to say yes. Emma wanted to protect the many people of the world, Collin wanted to see if this was for real, and Julie wanted to fight without getting into trouble. As for me, I said yes because I already knew these things existed, and I had been training for this type of fight. It was time to go into action.
Reese explained that we would be fighting and doing our job at night. After school, we were to get homework done and then go to sleep until about midnight. Once Midnight came, we were supposed to be at our lair and getting ready to do whatever they needed us to do. Then we would go straight to school from there.
We were paid for our work, and we would do as told. We became a team very fast during trainging at the end of summer. All of our training was in the day, but as school started, things went to how Reese had originally said.
The first few nights, I left a note on my bed to say that I left early to school because of a project or help with homework. It didn't matter what I said, as long as they thought it was because of school work. on weekends, I'd be sleeping over at friend's houses.
And so our journey began...
