I don't know where those people got the part about wearing pants and cutting hair isn't right...however in 1st Timothy chapter 2 verse 9 it has reference to women...it says...I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God....hope this helped...Love and Hugs...GBU...ICL~*~*~  |

Interesting question.. Isn't it the Church of God whose women don't cut their hair and wear skirts all the time. I went to school with a girl that was Church of God. As soon as she grew up and got married and got away from home, she started wearing pants and cut her hair off.  |

I would never wear pants to Church but i do not recall any section of the bible which makes such claims about women not being able to cut their hair or wear pants   |

I remember reading in the Bible years ago when I used to go to Sunday School. I wish I could give you the actual chapter & verse. But it did say verbatem that Women should not part take of mens clothing.And the Hair part....Remember Samson & Delia what happened when she chopped off his mane of hair.... In the Bible women are instructed to not wear mens clothing.This has been incorrectly applied to modern times.We must remember that in the time of Jesus that men wore skirts.Yup! That's right.The togas worn in the period by both male and female would by todays standard be considered dresses.The teachings of Christ are what are important for spiritual growth,not the tennants of the church that allow for small minds to cast judgement on others.Follow the two Great Commandments of Christ and you'll make a fine Christian....oh! and try not to commit the unforgivable sin.O.O  |

I didn't find anything about not cutting hair. In 1st Peter, 3:5, it says "Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel." I guess that means, no putting of gold, or adorning of your clothes. I wonder why it is wrong to braid your hair?  |

My hair is really long, I sit on it and if I wore it out all the time it would get in the way and I couldn't do what I need to. I have to wear it in a plait during the day to keep it out of the way. I may be wrong, but surely, I don't think God would hold this against me :P. God is just and fair. I think it probably refers to vanity... the way I personally take those references is, in effect it is saying be modest in the way you dress, do not try to draw attention to yourself and do not be vain. - Kokoro |

My guess on braiding hair is because in olden times from some things I've heard it was a form of knot magick...dunno if thats why thought Id contribute it though LOL! Maybe (if thats not the case) they just thought of it as being to fancy and not modest...  |

*nods* its true...in the bible it says that women shouldnt wear pants...I dont think its the girls who cant cut they're hair...its supposedly wrong for women to "dress as men" Its the guys who shouldnt cut they're hair though...its like a "Samson thing" I personaly believe that if god is real he shouldnt judge us for something as trivial as clothing or hair...and I dont think it really is...I just think its the guy who wrote the bibles idea...gosh Im totally wrong arent I? *sighs* oh well  |

Well i believe its your own conviction to not cut your hair or wear pants. If you feel wrong doing it then you shouldnt but if it dont bother you then i think its ok. But thats just me. BeeBop  |

It makes me mad when other women try to push that on people!!!! I had a friend who couldnt cut her hair or wear pants, and she was not even remotely pushy about it, but her mom was. I wasnt allowed to be around her unless I wore a skirt!!!*grumbles* I hate skirts! I think, and I may be wrong, that the only person who ever said anything about this was Paul, who I personally believe was a self-proclaimed saint and nothing more.

Deuteronomy 22:5 says that it is an abomination unto God for women to wear men's apparel and for men to wear women's apparel. 1 Corinthians 11:15 says that long hair is a glory for a woman, because her hair is given for a covering. From this, some people conclude that when a woman cuts her hair she is discarding some of her God-given honor.  |

Thanks to everyone who replied, I was just wondering how everyone else felt about this matter. I believe that if God tells you that its wrong then you shouldn't do it, but if you don't feel like it is wrong then it is ok for you to do it. I believe that every person has their own convictions, everyones isn't the same, what might be wrong for one person may not be wrong for another. But alot of people today will judge a Christian by the way they dress or if their hair is short. But i believe that you can be just as good a Christan as anyone else no matter if you wear pants or if you cut your hair... Thanks to all who replied...*fallinstar*  |

Have you ever heard of the 2x2 sect? They are a group that believes that they are the exclusive & one-and-only true church. They believe in a dress code for the women: Long hair worn in a bun, no make-up, jewelry, and dresses must be worn. These are considered to be the outward signs of God's elect.  |

The reference I remember about women and cut hair is the one that says if a woman does not cover her head, let her be shaved also... but if it is a shame for her to be shave or shorn, then cover her head. 1 corinthians 11... but I don't see anything that says a woman cannot wear pants.  |
