I thought I'd tell you all about our strange happenings... We moved into our home about 6 years ago. It had been owned by a family we knew from church, and before that (we hear), a local doctor. It was built in the 60's. Everything was fine for the first several months. Then jewelry would come up missing. My rings, mostly. The first time I noticed this was with one particular ring. My husband had bought me a mother's ring for Christmas. I wore it every day, and would take it off at night and put it in this little decorative box in the bathroom, until morning when I'd put it on again. There was nothing else in the box. One morning I went to put it on... no ring. I asked everyone if they'd taken it, of course, no one had. I looked everywhere for that ring, to no avail. About three weeks later, just out of hopelessness, I opened the box. There it was. That was what started it, but things like that happen all the time. My children and I just take it in stride, but my husband would tell us all we're nuts for thinking it's a ghost. Well, one cold, winter evening, we all decided we wanted some warm biscuits with butter before bed. I opened the fridge and discovered there was no butter. My husband says, "There has to be, I just bought a whole tub like two days ago." We all four rummaged through the entire fridge... no butter. I said, "I guess the poltergeist took it." He just rolled his eyes. The next morning, I got up and went to the kitchen. He was making him some toast. I said, "What, did you find some butter?" He took me by the arm and led me over to the fridge... a whole tub of butter sitting there on the second shelf where none of us could have missed it. Right in front. The weird thing is, none of us are afraid. We don't get the feeling it will harm us. I've also had lights, TVs turned off by themselves, and the radio will turn on by itself, always changed to a big band station. Sometimes when we're all sitting in the room, so we know none of us turned it on. My daughter is in the seventh grade (just so you know about how old she is.) About a year ago, she asked me what I think of the ghost... where it came from, etc. I told her I get a strong feeling that it's female. She said she did too. Then she said, "Wonder what her name was?" Silence for a few seconds, then at the same time, I said, "Abby" while my daughter said, "Addy". She had asked me that to see if we'd come up with the same name. We've taken to calling our ghost Addy now, and if the light goes out, we'll say, "Turn it back on, Addy," and usually it comes right back on!!
