Epsom salts. Remember those? You can buy a 1 pound box of them at most pharmacies for about $2.00 and they work for everything from extracting soreness, bringing a pimple to a head, and laxitive needs.. Deffinately go get some as soon as you can |

Hi Bubbles. I don't have any advice for the swelling, because that has never happened to me. I would suggest you get yourself into shape by doing some aerobics each night and shoulder exercises. As for the wrists though, I think I know something that can help prevent the swelling and soreness. I have really bad wrists and need to exercise them daily to keep them from hurting. What you can do is take a tennis ball or balled-up socks and motion your wrist around in a circle. Do that for as long as you can, and then switch to the other wrist. That'll help, I'm sure of it. Sounds funny, but it does work... |

Ok...if you're swollen, obviously you've damaged yourself. #1 and most importantly, you should not be in that much pain. Some pain yes because this is a new physical activity. You should ask your volleyball coach if you are doing something wrong. #2 Ibuprofen (like advil)is great for muscle injuries and soreness. It is a anti-inflammitory. Which means it reduces swelling and inflamation of the muscles and ligaments...and as an added bonus, it promotes healing. #3, unfortunately, you should probably not take warm baths. I know they feel good, but i've been damaged before and they can actually prevent your muscles from healing properly. |

drink plenty of water. When you muscles are swollen it is usually because of them holding on to excess water because of a strenuous workout or injury. By drinking tons of water it causes the muscles to release water. Aleve helps, too. |

I did a volleyball camp for 3 in a row once. after the second day, my wrists were so sore that I could no longer stand the thought of touching a volleyball. I would suggest taking some advil (ibuprofen reduces swelling) and bandaging your wrists while you play until the pain goes away. Also, you can do weight training exercises to strenghten your wrists. |

Try a nice warm bath!! That always help, or if you can get a massage. It is very normal to have soreness after volleyball practice, I learned that when you have soreness that means you are working muscles that you normally don't and you are building your muscles. If that doesn't work try a heat pad!! |
