Sunrise

This is simply a narrative of a sunrise I witnessed upon hiking up to the Devil's Courthouse on the Blue Ridge Parkway sometime around 1990.

As the morning mist creeps up the mountainsides from the foggy depths of the valley below, the sun peaks over the distant mountains. It's rays of golden light seemingly reach out to waken all in it's glory, reaching further and further until finally the sun perches upon a faraway mountain top. A range of colours from deep orange, peach, pink and finally blue enhance the mixture of the green expanse before it. The mist quickly dissipates quenching the thirst of the forest with drops of morning dew. The air, heavily scented with moss, is now rife with the songs of a multitude of birds greeting the birth of a new day.
