My Dearest,
A thousand times I have thought of that night. The night we let matters set aside, shrugged off those barriers set by others. The night we finally gave into our desires.
Dreams are happily ever after. In my dreams, it was you that came to me. A thousand different scenarios I had dreamt with each and every fantasy fulfilled. Only I would wake in the morning hating myself for having never acted upon my feelings, my intuitions. There was more than just a spark between us but neither never acted, you in denial, and me never really sure I should. But in my dreams I did act and you did receive...in my dreams...until that night.
You had come to visit after a long absence. Your father had finally succombed to his cancer. A month had passed since he died and you had finally tore yourself away from it all and came to visit. I was ecstatic when you arrived, having missed you every day that you were away.
We were in the kitchen. You fetching a bottle of Merlot and I, the glasses. I grabbed a chair as I approached the counter and asked you to hold onto it to keep it steady. I scrambled up on the chair, grabbed two glasses from atop the unit then felt the vertigo hit with a dizzying effect. You grabbed my arm and braced your arm against my back to steady me. I stepped down into a near full embrace. We stood there the two of us, faces just inches apart. We just stood there staring. I had no idea what was going through your head but mine was absolutely racing. I felt my lips part slightly and then I moved a little closer. I could taste your breath. Very softly you said my name. Your face was flushed and your chest was heaving, so was mine. "Shhh" I replied, moving in even closer now. Just close enough for our cheeks to barely touch. Then ever so slowly I turned my head slightly and allowed my lips to brush across yours. We both stood there breathing eachothers trembling breath. Then I felt my knees give away and was grateful that your arm was around me because as our lips met I felt that dizzying effect and thought, every essence of my being had suddenly exploded into a zillion particles as that tingling sensation rose from my stomach and stole my breath away. At that moment I completely melted in your arms.
I have never forgotten that moment. No kiss has ever come close in comparison to that one which swept me off my feet that night.
