Anything I can do to get this upset stummy and nausea to go away? When ever I drink water, I end up spitting it out cause I feel like Im gonna be sick if I swallow. ALSO, when I lay falt on my back, I get very bad nausea, but as soon as I sit up, I feel fine. You can only imagine how hard it was for me to fall asleep last night :-(

I dont know whats wrong :-( Anyone know something I can do or take to make me feel better? I took a pepto bismol last night n it didnt seem to help :-( All help is greatly appreciated!!

Date: 8/9/2004 1:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 46527    It sounds like nerves. Practise breathing relaxation, there are a few ways of doing it: 1. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, concentrate on your breathing and nothing else. 2. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth but as you exhale say the word 'calm' quietly. Both methods work but most people have a preference for one or the other of them.
Date: 8/9/2004 1:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 46527    Oops, forgot to mention to breathe slowly and regularly for both. You might find that you feel as if you want to breathe quickly as you do them but the more you concentrate the more you'll be able to relax. It should help unknot your general tummy area too, it's because the muscles are tight that you're feeling sick.
Date: 8/9/2004 1:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 23796    With your past hospital visit and now this I have no doubt that it's nerves. You have a lot going on right now in your life, not just with what you've had this week. I'd seriously consider talking with you parents about your anxiety problems. Doctors can perscribe meds to help control them.
Date: 8/9/2004 4:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 62367    You have one solution in your message. Don't think about it. Keep busy with other things. I know its hard to keep from thinking about your problems but if you get involved with something else as simple as going to a movie or reading, your mind will get involved with that activity. Get together with your friends or your family. Do something that you like to do but that you have to think about while you are doing it. Please take it easy. You will make it through OK, you'll see.
